    • This invention relates (a) to a 540 kb YAC which encodes the necessary species-specific factor(s) and is able to substitute for human Chromosome 21 to reconstitute the Hu-IFN-gamma receptor-mediated induction of class I HLA antigens; (b) to the construction of a plasmid to integrate the selective marker for antibiotic G418 resistance into YACs and to delete some of the human DNA fragments from YACs in order to facilitate the manipulation of human genomic DNA in yeast artificial chromosome (YAC) clones; (c) to two fragmentation vectors, pSE1 and pSE2, which contain a neomycin resistance and URA3 gene, developed for targeting yeast artificial chromosomes (YACs) containing human genomic DNA; (d) to a chromosomal fragmentation procedure employed to produce a deletion set of yeast artificial chromosomes (YACs) from a parental YAC (GART D142H8) known to map to Chromosome 21q and to encode the human interferon-gamma receptor (Hu-IFN-gamma R) accessory factor gene as well as the phosphoribosylglycinamide formyltranisferase (GART) gene; and (e) to the isolation of cDNA clones that encode the necessary species-specific factor and that are able to substitute for human Chromosome 21 to reconstitute the Hu-IFN-gamma receptor-mediated induction of class I HLA antigens.

    • Provided is an alarm box in which the user is temporarily detained during the operation of the box. A handle switch is provided which, upon manual grasping causes the sending of a tamper signal. The handle is located on an alarm box housing. Cuffs are joined respectively to the alarm box housing (below the handle) and to a cover. The cover is pivotally joined to the housing for closing the cuffs upon the arm of the user. Within the cuffs are pressure sensitive switches that form a part of an electrical circuit. The closing of the handle switch and the cuff switch initiates the operation of a timing control. The timing control, in turn, activates a solenoid. A portion of the cover extends and is movable within the housing. That portion of the cover has a tear-shaped aperture which is engaged by the solenoid. The aperture is so disposed as to permit the inward (or toward the housing) movement of the cover but the combination with the solenoid's plunger, resist the removal of the cover. In this way, the user is held by the cuffs for a predetermined time. A local bell may be provided to indicate that the alarm box is properly operating. The closing of the buff switches and initiation of the timing control causes the sending of a primary signal or alarm.

    • A holder for taper's knives is an open grid structure defined by parallel pairs of spaced apart stringer pieces connected together with transverse joiner pieces. Pairs of stringers in an upper tier are aligned with associated pairs of stringers in a lower tier. Some of the stringer pieces sub-divide the slot courses defined by the spaces apart ones of stringers in each pair. Knives are inserted into the slots courses and hang down with a handle of the knife supported on top of the pair stringers. Support legs and carrying handles at opposite ends of the grid structure are constituted from others of the joiner pieces.
