    • An ink-jet printer and a drive method for driving a recording head of an ink-jet printer are provided for controlling a size and a velocity of an ejected ink droplet. The ink-jet printer includes a droplet outlet orifice through which an ink droplet is ejected, an ink chamber communicating with the outlet orifice, an ink feed duct for feeding ink to the ink chamber, and a piezoelectric element for expanding and contracting the ink chamber in response to an applied voltage. A process for ink ejection includes a first step in which a meniscus in the outlet orifice is retracted towards the ink chamber by expanding the ink chamber, a second step in which the meniscus is moved towards the orifice by filling the chamber with ink, and a third step in which an ink droplet is ejected by contracting the ink chamber. The size and the velocity of the ink droplet ejected in the third step are controlled by controlling a position and a velocity of periodic travel of the meniscus at a start point of the third step.

    • A print method that prints visible information by ejecting ink droplets from a print head onto a printed object rotated by a rotational driving unit is provided. The print method includes the steps of: carrying out impact position correction that corrects displacements in impact positions of the ink droplets to convert the visible information to impact position-corrected polar coordinate data when converting the visible information from biaxial perpendicular coordinate data to polar coordinate data; generating ink ejection data based on the impact position-corrected polar coordinate data; and printing the visible information by ejecting the ink droplets onto the printed object based on the ink ejection data.

    • The liquid discharge apparatus including a head having liquid dischargers capable of deflecting the trajectories of discharged droplets in a plurality of directions. At least two of the liquid dischargers neighboring each other are capable of discharging droplets in the same pixel area. When there is a shut-off liquid discharge due to droplet discharge failure, this information is stored. According to the stored information, the discharge signal corresponding to the droplets the shut-off discharger were supposed to discharge is transferred to another liquid discharger in the vicinity of the shut-off discharger. This other liquid discharger alternatively discharges droplets so that the droplets land in a position the droplets would have had landed if they were discharged by the shut-off discharger.
