Such liquid crystal display panel 3 is placed over said backlight device 2 to form the liquid crystal display device 1, wherein said driver IC 33 is placed close to an edge other than the edge where the light source 22 of said backlight device 2 is located. Also, the light source 22 is made up of one or more LEDs.

The creak reduction means may be a slippery film whose surface is fluorinated such as a fluororesin film, a polyacetal resin film, a polyethylene film, and a silicon coating film, or protrusions or protruding fins, or a friction reduction means such as silicon oil or fluorine oil, or a mutual displacement absorbing means such as a flexible sheet. By adopting such a constitution, it is possible to prevent noise from being generated due to mutual friction between the liquid crystal panel and the various members such as the diffusion plate, the reinforcing plate, the frame and the reflector for the backlight unit as a result of thermal expansion.

    • A liquid crystal module provides for concave shaped recesses formed in an elastic member along the circumference of a linear light source that is arranged on the side of a light guide, and lamp holders attached to both ends of the linear light source, while ring-shaped hard members are engaged with the recesses. Thus, the hard members serve as a grip against an impact applied to the linear light source, and the linear light source is prevented from being damaged. Accordingly, a sidelight-type liquid crystal module with a liquid crystal panel is thereby obtained, in which the damage to the linear light source (when an impact, or the like, is applied to the liquid crystal panel) is prevented by simple means without affecting the quality of light that is emitted toward the liquid crystal panel.
