摘要： An apparatus for detecting an edge of a semitransparent plane substance provided with a light source array including a plurality of light sources and a photosensor array including a plurality of photosensors. A selection circuit selects a pair of one of the light sources and one of the photosensors, respectively, and a comparator circuit compares the outputs of each of the photosensors in each pair when no detected substance exists between the light source array and the photosensor array, and the corresponding outputs when a substance exists between the light source array and the photosensor array, so that the edge portion of the substance can be detected.

摘要： An uneven-surface data detection apparatus, includes a transparent plate having an uneven-surface contact portion against which an uneven surface to be detected is pressed. A light source illuminates the uneven-surface contact portion through the transparent plate. An uneven-surface image drawing out optical element draws out the light reflected on the uneven-surface contact portion of the transparent plate. A detector detects the light drawn out from the transparent plate by the optical element.Light reflected by a projection-facing portion of the uneven surface contact portion to be introduced into the detector diverges from a propagation direction of light reflected by a recess-facing portion of the uneven surface contact portion. The optical element is arranged to guide the light reflected by the projection-facing portion into the detector.

摘要： Light-beam scanning apparatus mainly used for a bar-code reader in a point-of-sale system to identify sold articles. The apparatus includes a light-beam emitting device, a hologram disk having a plurality of hologram segments with different diffraction characteristics mounted along its circumference and being rotated at a predetermined speed, and a deflecting device for directing the emitted light beam from the light-beam emitting device to one side of the hologram disk in a first direction. The scanning apparatus has a first mirror group including a plurality of mirrors placed in a second direction corresponding to the other side of the hologram disk, each of which mirrors is arranged to receive a diffracted light beam from a corresponding hologram segment, and a second mirror group including a plurality of mirrors, each of which mirrors is placed to receive a light beam reflected by a corresponding mirror of the first mirror group and to reflect the incident light beam to a predetermined space positioned in the first direction where an article attached with a bar-code label is moved. In the apparatus, a light path from the other side of the hologram disk to the predetermined space has a predetermined length to form a predetermined scanning light pattern in the space.

摘要： A back-scattered electron detector for use in an electron microscope of an electron beam exposure system for detecting back-scattered electrons from a specimen includes a transparent plate employed as a light transmitting guide, and a part of the plate having a plastic scintillator coated thereon which emits light outputs in accordance with the back-scattered electrons. Gratings are provided at the scintillator part of the plate to reflect the emitted light outputs so as to be transmitted to a photo-electric convertor at the end of the plate. An aluminum layer is coated on the outside surface of the transparent plate for increasing light reflecting efficiency thereof.
