摘要： A mammography system using a tissue exposure control relying on estimates of the thickness of the compressed and immobilized breast and of breast density to automatically derive one or more technic factors. The system further uses a tomosynthesis arrangement that maintains the focus of an anti-scatter grid on the x-ray source and also maintains the field of view of the x-ray receptor. Finally, the system finds an outline that forms a reduced field of view that still encompasses the breast in the image, and uses for further processing, transmission or archival storage the data within said reduced field of view.

摘要： A cigar cutter has a body formed of a pair of plates having aligning orifices defining a passage for the head of a cigar to be cut. A pair of opposed cutting blades, movable toward and away from each other within the body each have a cutting edge, which cooperates with the opposing cutting edge during toward movement to cut the cigar head. Each of a pair of bridges is affixed to one of the cutting blades and moveable therewith. A spring engages the bridges and biases them toward an extended position wherein the cutting edges are moved away from each other within the body. A latch automatically engages both of the blades approximate the inward terminus of their toward movement and maintains the blades in a retracted storage position wherein the edges are not exposed. The cutting edges are each inwardly tapered to cause the edges and the cigar to cooperate to force the opposing blades together during their toward movement to automatically sharpen the blades. Each of the bridges has a guide for receiving and guiding the other of the cutting blades during their toward movement.

摘要： A cigar cutting apparatus has a housing defining a hole for receiving a cigar head, the hole having a hole diameter and defining a hole axis central thereto. First and second cutting blades lie within and are pivotable relative to the housing about first and second pivot axes, respectively. The first and second pivot axes are disposed on a line separated from the hole axis by at least the hole diameter and separately disposed by at least the hole diameter. Each cutting blade has a cutting edge pivotable with the associated cutting blade and directed toward the cutting edge of the other cutting blade. The cutting blades cooperate with the hole to define a passageway for receiving a cigar head when the cutting blades are pivoted away from each other, and the cutting edges cooperate to slice through the cigar head as the cutting blades are pivoted towards each other. The cutting blades come together to block the passageway. A spring biases the cutting edges apart, and a latch is engageable with for retaining together the first and second cutting blades to block the passageway, and operable to release the blades to allow the spring to cause the first and second cutting edges apart to expose the passageway.
