摘要： There are provided a system and a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display element, which make it possible to perform a lamination process in a smaller installation space, and which are provided to perform a process including turning over and horizontally rotating a liquid crystal panel using a panel turning unit, feeding optical functional films from first and second continuous rolls, respectively, using film feeding lines arranged linearly in planar view, feeding the liquid crystal panel using a panel feeding line placed above the film feeding lines in an overlapping manner and shaped linearly in planar view, and bonding each of the optical functional films, which are fed from the first and second rolls, to the liquid crystal panel from below.

In the process for producing the polarizing film, a polyvinyl alcohol-based film is dry-stretched uniaxially, relaxed in an aqueous solution containing iodine or a dichroic dyestuff, and further stretched in an aqueous solution containing a PVA crosslinking agent. It is preferable that the polyvinyl alcohol-based film has a dry-stretch ratio of at least 2, the film after relaxation has a stretch ratio of at least 1.02, and the total stretch ratio is at most 6.5. It is also preferable that the relaxation rate is at most 10% of the dry-stretch ratio.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method of drying a coating film, and its object is to produce a coating film with small variations in thickness with stability. Thus, in the method of drying a coating film 11 formed by application of a coating solution to a long-length substrate 10 which is traveling, the coating film 11 is dried immediately after the application of a coating solution to the long-length substrate 10, with an evaporation rate of a solvent kept at 0.1 g/m2 s or less. Preferably, on a travel path of the coating film 11 immediately after coating, a plate 20 should be provided with a predetermined air gap between itself and the coating film 11 thereby to control the evaporation rate of the coating solution.
