    • A control method of an image forming apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes a latent image carrier; a development apparatus for developing a liquid developer containing a toner, a carrier liquid and a dispersant soluble in the carrier liquid therein on the latent image carrier; an intermediate transfer medium to which a developer image developed on the latent image carrier is transferred; a transfer apparatus for transferring the developer image on the intermediate transfer medium to a transfer material; and a dispersant collecting liquid application unit for applying a dispersant collecting liquid on the intermediate transfer medium. The method includes performing the control such that after finishing of transfer of the developer image onto intermediate transfer medium, application of the dispersant collecting liquid on the intermediate transfer medium is started by the dispersant collecting liquid application unit.

    • A transfer apparatus includes an image bearing unit, a transfer member and a bias generator. The image bearing unit is configured and arranged to bear an image. The transfer member is arranged with respect to the image bearing unit to form a nip portion therebetween. The transfer member includes a substrate and an elastic member. The substrate has a recessed portion with an opening width of the recessed portion being larger than a width of the nip portion as measured in a moving direction of the transfer member. The elastic member is fixed in the recessed portion and wound around the substrate. The elastic member has a volume resistivity of 1×106 to 1×1011 Ω·cm. The bias generator is configured and arranged to apply a bias electric field to the nip portion.

    • An image forming apparatus includes: a photoconductor drum; a transfer belt wound around the photoconductor drum and configured to move in a first direction; and a transfer member configured to come into abutment with the photoconductor drum at an abutment position via the transfer belt, wherein the transfer belt comes into contact with the photoconductor drum at a first position and comes out of contact with the photoconductor drum at a second position, and a peripheral surface length of the photoconductor drum between the abutment position and the second position is larger than a peripheral surface length of the photoconductor drum between the first position and the abutment position.
