    • An apparatus for destroying a calculus includes an ultrasonic wave generating unit capable of setting a plurality of piezo-electric devices in a drive/reception mode by phase control, a peak value detecting unit for detecting a peak value, in a predetermined time width, of an echo signal in a reception signal received by the piezo-electric devices, a first comparing unit for comparing the peak value detected by the peak value detecting unit with a first predetermined threshold value, a frequency analyzing unit for analyzing a frequency component, in the predetermined time width, of the echo signal in the reception signal, a calculating unit for calculating a predetermined characteristic value on the basis of frequency component data obtained by the frequency analyzing unit, a second comparing unit for comparing the characteristic value obtained by the calculating unit with a second predetermined threshold value, and a display unit for displaying a comparison result of the first comparing unit with a comparison result of the second comparing unit.

    • An electromagnetic induction type lithotrity apparatus, having a shock-wave source utilizing electromagnetic induction to generate a shock-wave, and focusing means to focus the shock-wave at a predetermined position, for focusing and irradiating the shock-wave toward a stone in the body of a patient which is located at the predetermined position, thereby pulverizing the stone. The apparatus comprising a drive section (sending section) for driving the shock-wave source by a voltage lower than that for generating the shock-wave so as to send a low-pressure wave lower in pressure than the shock-wave to the inside of the body, an echo receiving section, including a piezoelectric film arranged in front of the shock-wave source, for receiving a low-pressure echo reflected from the body, an echo detecting section for detecting the intensity of an echo, among the echoes received by the echo receiving section, reflected by a focal zone of the shock-wave, and a control section for comparing the intensity of the echo detected by the echo detecting section with a predetermined value, sending a predetermined signal to the drive section (sending section) based on the comparison result, switching the drive voltage of the shock-wave source to a high voltage sufficient for lithotrity, and generating a signal for driving the shock-wave source.

    • An ultrasonic therapy apparatus includes a treating ultrasonic transducer, a driving section, an imaging ultrasonic transducer, a tomographic image forming section, and a position control section. The treating transducer is driven by the driving section, and generates a treating ultrasonic wave focused at a predetermined focal point in a body of an object to be examined. The imaging ultrasonic transducer is movably arranged, and transmits and receives an imaging ultrasonic wave for obtaining a tomographic image of the object to be examined. The tomographic image forming section drives the imaging transducer to transmit the imaging ultrasonic wave, and forms the tomographic image of the object to be examined based on an ultrasonic echo signal received by the imaging transducer. The position control section controls the position of the imaging ultrasonic transducer within a predetermined range along a line connecting a central point of the treating ultrasonic transducer and the focal point of the treating ultrasonic wave.
