    • A spool valve includes a sleeve and a spool. The sleeve has a first communicating hole opening into the cylinder bore and a second communicating hole opening into the cylinder bore and separated from the first communicating hole in the axial direction of the cylinder bore. The spool is fluidtightly accommodated in the cylinder bore to slide and has one end portion which opens and closes the first communicating hole upon sliding operation thereof and the another end portion which opens and closes the second communicating hole upon sliding operation thereof. At least one of the end portions has an end surface extending from the outer circumference approximately at a right angle to the spool axis and an inclined surface which progressively decreases a diameter of the spool from the end surface.

    • In a disc brake assembly including a caliper member mounted on a vehicle body structure in such a manner as to straddle a portion of a rotary brake disc secured for a road wheel, a friction pad supported on the caliper member by means of a pair of hanger pins to be moved toward and away from one side surface of the brake disc for engagement therewith and disengagement therefrom, the friction pad having a backing plate secured thereto to be engaged at one side end face thereof with a torque receiving portion of the caliper member in braking operation and a fluid actuator mounted within the caliper member to press the friction pad against the one side surface of the brake disc, a side projection is provided on at least an upper or lower portion of the one side end face of the backing plate for engagement with the torque receiving portion of the caliper member or on at least an upper or lower portion of the torque receiving portion of the caliper member for engagement with the one side face of said backing plate. The side projection is arranged to apply a rotational force to the backing plate in a rotational direction of the brake disc when engaged with the torque receiving portion of the caliper member or engaged with the one side end face of the backing plate.

    • A disc rotor includes a sliding portion, a hat portion, and a connecting unit connecting the sliding portion and the hat portion. The connecting unit includes a washer arranged between the radially inner portion of the sliding portion and the radially outer portion of the hat portion, and a connecting pin having a head portion, having a shaft portion inserted through a first through-hole formed at the sliding portion, the washer and a second through-hole formed at the hat portion in an axial direction of the rotor, and riveted at an end portion of the shaft portion so as to integrally fasten the sliding portion, the washer and the hat portion. A riveted portion of the connecting pin is formed into a taper shape, and an outer circumferential surface of the riveted portion contacts and engages a tapered surface formed at the second through-hole of the hat portion.
