    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for providing location based services LBS in a mobile communication system.
      SOLUTION: Upon receipt of a request for the location information of a mobile station MS from a location client, a location server LS transmits an authentication request to an authorization, authentication and accounting server AAA and receives an authentication response message to the LS. The LS transmits an LCID request message for requesting the location controller identifier LCID of a location controller LC for the MS to an anchor authenticator. The anchor authenticator transmits a paging start request message to an anchor paging controller APC when the MS is in an idle mode. The APC detects an MS serving LC and transmits the LCID to the anchor authenticator. The anchor authenticator transmits an LCID response message to the LS, and the LS transmits a location report request message for requesting a report on the location information of the MS to the serving LC. The serving LC transmits a location report response message to the LS.
