    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selecting a bridge device which communicates between different piconets in a high-speed wireless personal area network (WPAN) using an ultra wide band (UWB). SOLUTION: The wireless personal area network comprises a parent piconet (PN) formed by a plurality of devices and a child piconet (PN) using a time slot allocated by a device within the parent PN. It has a bridge device which transmits data between a device within the child PN and a device within the parent PN by broadcasting information on devices in the parent PN and the child PN to each device within the WPAN. An MAC frame used by the bridge device contains a field indicating the whole capability value of a specific device, a field indicating the length of the frame, and an element ID field for identifying each element. The whole capability value field includes a field indicating a specific capability value, a field indicating adaptability if the device can be a piconet coordinate (PNC), and a field indicating adaptability for determining if a specific device can be a bridge device.
