摘要： An endoscopic surgical instrument (10) includes a proximal handle assembly (12) coupled to a relatively long coil (20) and to a relatively long pull wire (22) extending through the long coil (20), and a distal jaw assembly (14) coupled to a relatively short coil (58) and to a relatively short pull wire (60) extending through the short coil (58). The distal ends of the long coil (20) and pull wire (22) are provided with a first coupling device (40), and the proximal ends of the short coil (58) and pull wire (60) are provided with a second coupling device (70) which is mated with the first coupling device (40). The first and second coupling devices (40, 70) couple the distal end of the long coil (20) with the proximal end of the short coil (58), and the distal end of the long pull wire (22) with the proximal end of the short pull wire (60). The presently preferred pull wire coupling includes a ball and socket coupling (44), and the presently preferred coil coupling includes a bayonet coupling (42). A rigid endoscopic surgical instrument (200) with a detachable end effector assembly (214) is also disclosed. The design of the coupling devices permits the coupling devices to be relatively small, having an overall outer diameter of two to three millimeters.

摘要： A double acting bipolar endoscopic scissors (10) includes a hollow tube (16) with an integral clevis (24) and a bipolar push rod extending therethrough. The tube (16) is rotatably mounted in a handle member which is provided with a manual actuation lever (14). The bipolar push rod includes a pair of spaced apart rods (32, 34) which are insulated along substantially their entire lengths by polypropylene sheaths (35, 35a), and which are insert molded in a distal insulating collar (46) near their distal ends, in a proximal insulating collar (36) near their proximal ends, and in plurality of non-conductive cylinders (35, 35a) therebetween. The distal collar includes a flattened distal portion (50) and the distal ends of the rods are bent approximately 90 degrees and exit the flattened portion. A pair of scissor blades (26, 28) are mounted in the clevis (24) with an axle screw and a nut and are insulated from the clevis and the axle screw.

摘要： An endoscopic biopsy forceps instrument includes a distal jaws assembly detachable from a proximal handle assembly. The proximal handle assembly includes a centrally slotted shaft and a spool having a laterally seated cross block which passes through the central slot. The distal jaws assembly includes jaws mounted on a clevis at the distal end of a coil and coupled to a pull wire which extends through the coil to its proximal end. The proximal end of the coil is provided with a connecting sleeve provided with a frustoconical portion having double-helical threads for removably coupling the coil to a shaft having a distal frustoconical portion having double-helical threads. The proximal end of the pull wire is provided with a grooved mating member and the spool is provided with a locking assembly having a spring-biased push button latch for releasably engaging the grooved mating member. The grooved mating member has an elongate cylindrical distal portion, a central cylindrical portion having a relatively larger diameter, a proximal cylindrical grooved portion, and a proximal conical portion having a rounded apex. The elongate distal portion has a bore into which the pull wire is secured. The mating member end of the pull wire can be snapped into the locking assembly and the coil can be quickly and securely coupled to the shaft.

摘要： An endoscopic biopsy forceps instrument includes a distal jaws assembly detachable from a proximal handle assembly. 摘要： An end effector assembly (12, 14) for an endoscopic instrument includes first and second end effectors (44a, 44b), a screw (102) and optionally a washer (104). The end effectors have arms (50a, 50b) which are biased away from each other. The screw (102) has a threaded portion (108) dimensioned to engage the distal end (16a) of the endoscopic instrument and a head portion (106) with a pair of arm receiving grooves (114a, 114b). In a presently preferred embodiment, the washer (104) extends over arms (50a, 50b) of the end effectors (44a, 44b) which pass through grooves (114a, 114b) in the head (106) of the screw (102). In this manner, the arms (50a, 50b) of the end effectors (44a, 44b) are captured between the screw (102) and the washer (104). The grooves (114a, 114b) are preferably provided with upstanding pins (417a, 417b) which engage mounting holes (572a, 572b) in the arms (50a, 50b) of the end effectors (44a, 44b).

摘要： An endoscopic multiple sample bioptome includes a hollow outer member and an axially displaceable inner member extending therethrough. The proximal ends of the outer and inner members are coupled to an actuator for axially displacing one relative to the other. The distal end of the outer member is coupled to one of a cylinder having a sharp distal edge and a jaw assembly, while the distal end of the inner member is coupled to the other. The jaw assembly includes a pair of opposed, preferably toothed jaw cups each of which is coupled by a resilient arm to a base member. The arms are bent to lie in planes which intersect the axis of the base member and to locate the jaws apart from each other. The base member is mounted inside the cylinder and axial movement of the jaw assembly and cylinder relative to each other draws the arms into the cylinder and brings the jaw cups together in a biting action. The biting action is enhanced according to the invention by arranging the cutting edge of each jaw to lie in a plane which intersects the plane in which the distal portion of the jaw arm lies. The biting action is further enhanced by providing a closing cam on the outer surface of the jaws which is engaged by the cylinder when the jaws are closed. The arrangement of the cutting edges also presents a smooth surface to the interior of an endoscope and the closing cams prevent the sleeve from sliding completely over and off of the jaws.
