摘要： A novel "strip mode" printing method is disclosed for printing in the following technologies: electrostatic, electrographic (laser, LED), impact wire type or pin-dot matrix, ink jet and solid ink jet. Data representing the image (26) to be printed is arranged in a plurality of X-axis strips (34-38) each having an Y-axis width substantially less than the width of the medium (27) to be printed on. The strip mode print head (28) is moved to an X-axis strip, then the medium (27) is moved to print in the strip. The strip mode print head (28) remains stationary while the medium (27) is moved to print an entire strip. The strip mode printing head (28) is next moved to print in another strip and held stationary while that strip is printed. The image is preferably printed strip-by-strip, rather than full-width-line by full-width-line as in line mode and serial mode printers.

摘要： Motor-driven cutting apparatus for cutting sheet media are disclosed, particularly for use with plotter and printer apparatus. The cutting apparatus of one embodiment comprises two cutting members (26, 27) in which at least one of the cutting members (26) is moved both angularly and linearly, e.g., pivoted and reciprocated, relative to the other to cut media placed between the two cutting members. In another embodiment, the cutting members (126, 127) are both simultaneously pivoted relative to each other. Rotary motion of a driving member, e.g. a motor shaft (16) or a shaft coupled to a motor shaft, is converted to combine angular and straight line motion or only angular motion at one or both cutting members by a simplified coupling arrangement which may comprise simple sleeves with eccentric structure (39, 90) and pivot-type joints. Cutting apparatus according to the invention may be used for X-axis and/or Y-axis cutting.
