摘要： An electrical connector, particularly adapted for use in motor vehicles, having an outer wall, a housing cap (14) adapted to cover the front end of the housing (1), and one or more wire assemblies each having a terminal recess (21) on the inside surface thereof. The assembly is adapted to be inserted into the housing (1) from the rear and the housing (1) has a corresponding number of receiving passages (2) extending longitudinally therethrough. There is a narrowed portion of the passages (2) which forces the assemblies being inserted outwardly against a deflectable arm (19) in the outer wall. When the assembly is completely in place, the narrowed portion fits into the terminal recess (21), thereby permitting the flexible portion of the outer wall to return to its normal position. Thus, unless the assemblies are fully seated, the housing cap (14) cannot be fitted over the housing (1), thereby preventing misassembly of the connector.

摘要： PURPOSE: To detect loosely capped state in advance, due to the incapability of coupling a cap to a housing front with a terminal not placed at the prescribed position in a housing chamber. CONSTITUTION: When a cap 14 is coupled, the surrounding wall 16 thereof comes to be positioned on the displacement point of the free section 7 of an elastic arm 8. Thus, terminals 12 and 12' are not housed at the prescribed position within housing chambers 2 and 2'. In addition, when the projection 5 of the wall 16 is loosely coupled to the recesses of the terminals 2 and 2', or the section 7 is externally displaced in such state as placed on the projection 5, the cap 14 comes in contact with the section 7 and cannot be coupled. As a result, the terminals 12 and 12' can be detected as insufficiently inserted into the chambers 2 and 2' and loosely coupled by confirming the incapability of coupling the cap 14. In this case, the terminals 12 and 12' are not engaged with the arm 8 and, therefore, even when a force for pulling out the terminals 12 and 12' acts as a result of pulling out a lead wire 23, the projection 5 neither flexes nor becomes loose. According to this construction, the loosely coupled state of a connector can be detected beforehand.

摘要： PURPOSE:To make terminal housings compact and prevent the seal ring thereof from being dislocated by using the external space of the housings as common to the flexible space of an elastic arm for hooking terminals to the housings and chucking the seal ring between a ring-shaped projection on the central peripheral wall of the housings and the opening edge of a cap. CONSTITUTION:When terminals 12 and 12' are inserted from the rear part of a pair of terminal housings 2 and 2', the tips of the terminals 12 and 12' go aground on a projection 5 and come in contact with an elastic arm 8 of cantilever shape. And the free end of the elastic arm 8 is displaced to the outside of the housings 2 and 2'. When the terminals 12 and 12' are further inserted, a recessed part 13 is engaged with the projection 5 and the contact condition is released. And the free end of the elastic arm 8 returns to the original position thereof. On the other hand, a seal ring 22 is wound about the peripheral wall of the housing 1 and then a cap 14 is applied to the front of the housing 1. As a result, the opening edge of the cap 14 comes to oppose a ring-shaped projection 4 formed on the central peripheral wall of the housing 1, thereby retaining the seal ring 22. According to the aforesaid construction, the terminal housings 2 and 2' can be made small and the seal ring 22 is not detached therefrom.
