摘要： A personal protection system is mountable to a user for distributing air to the user includes a shell providing structure. A fan module is supported by the shell for generating a flow of air. Cushioning is provided between the fan module and the shell to reduce vibrations and noise. The fan module includes a fan with blades having an airfoil shape for added noise reduction. An air flow channel is in fluid communication with the fan module for routing the flow of air. A pair of nozzle tips are in fluid communication with the air flow channel and are rotatably adjustable to allow directional adjustment of the flow of air toward a neck of the user. The personal protection system also includes a face shield with multiple removable layers which are sterilized as a unit using gamma radiation.

摘要： There is disclosed a method of manufacturing a hood for use in a personal protection system, the hood being configured to be held over a head unit of the system during use thereof, said method comprising the steps of: providing an element which is configured to define a transparent face shield of the hood, and applying one or more transparent layers to a surface of the element, thereby forming an assembly comprising the element and transparent layer(s); sterilizing said assembly using gamma radiation; providing flexible sheeting which is configured to define a hood section of the hood and which comprises filter material through which air can be drawn into the hood during use, whereby to be filtered; and attaching said assembly to said sheeting whereby to form the face shield and such that said surface faces outwardly, the or each layer thus being removable from the face shield during use.

The assembly includes a cartridge having a distal end (34) and a proximal end (36) and defining a mixing chamber (40) between the distal end and the proximal end. A transfer mechanism having a cup (52) and a stem supporting a piston (64) and a plunger is connected to the distal end. The transfer mechanism includes a first advancement mechanism (68) for advancing the piston and plunger in unison and a second advancement mechanism (70) for moving the plunger independent of the piston. The assembly further includes a removable bundle (120) having a shaft for attachment of a mixing blade and a quick-release connector (142) and a release button (144) for locking and unlocking the mixing blade (128) from the removable handle.
