    • The invention relates to a modular image recording system (10), especially for an endoscope. Said modular image recording system comprises an electronic image sensor (12) and a one-piece printed circuit (20) that electrically contacts the image sensor (12). At least one cable (44) is connected to the printed circuit (20) and leads away from said printed circuit (20). The printed circuit (20) comprises three sections (22, 24, 26). A first section (22) and a second section (24) of these sections are spaced apart from one another and extend at an angle or transversely to the image sensor (12). A third section (26) is arranged between the first and the second section (22). The aim of the invention is to relieve the strain to which the at least one cable (44) is subjected. To this end, the image sensor (12) is located at an end of the printed circuit (20) that is opposite the third section (26). According to the inventive method of assembling the modular image recording system (10), the printed circuit (20) is configured as a planar plate-shaped blank that is provided with at least three sections. These sections can be folded along flexible connecting sections while at least one cable is contacted with the plate-shaped blank. The plate-shaped blank is folded in such a manner that a third section (26) is located between a first section (22) and a second section (24), the image sensor (12) being contacted with the printed circuit (20) at and end opposite the third section (26).
