    • A communications device for use in a wireless communications network comprising infrastructure equipment is provided. The communications device comprises transmitter circuitry configured to transmit signals to the infrastructure equipment via a wireless access interface provided by the wireless communications network, receiver circuitry configured to receive signals from the infrastructure equipment via the wireless access interface, and controller circuitry. The controller circuitry is configured to control the transmitter circuitry and the receiver circuitry to monitor a first search space for a first radio signal from the infrastructure equipment, the first search space containing candidates of the first radio signal each having an associated one of a plurality of repetition levels forming part of a repetition level set, the associated repetition level indicating a number of repetitions with which the candidate may be transmitted, the first radio signal containing scheduling information for the transmission of a second radio signal by the communications device to the infrastructure equipment, to transmit, upon detecting the first radio signal in the first search space, the second radio signal to the infrastructure equipment, the second radio signal being repeatedly transmitted a predetermined number of times during each of a plurality of consecutive time periods, to monitor a second search space for one or more third radio signals from the infrastructure equipment, the second search space being a portion of known frequency resources and known time resources of the wireless access interface and comprising one or more candidates of the third radio signals each having an associated repetition level of the repetition level set, to determine that at least one of the third radio signals are monitored during the transmission of the second radio signal, wherein the one or more third radio signals are repeatedly transmitted using one of the candidates of the third radio signals a number of times indicated by the repetition level associated with the selected candidate of the third radio signal, to monitor, on the basis of at least one criterion of the first radio signal and/or the second radio signal and/or third radio signal, for an early termination indicator during a known subset of the frequency resources and the time resources of the wireless access interface in which the one or more third radio signals can be received, the early termination indicator being received from the infrastructure equipment and indicating that transmission of the second radio signal to the infrastructure equipment should be terminated, and to terminate transmission of the second radio signal to the infrastructure equipment on the basis of the received early termination.

    • According to an example embodiment of the present technique, there is provided a method performed in a communications device for receiving signals from a wireless communications network.The method comprises controlling a receiver of the communications device to reduce a power consumption in accordance with a discontinuous reception, DRX, off period in which no signals representing scheduling information are received via a physical downlink control channel when in a connected mode and in which the communications device can reduce a power to the receiver, controlling the receiver of the communications device to increase the power consumption so as to detect whether or not signals from a group control channel have been received by the receiver either during the DRX off periodor during a first time slot of a DRX on period in which signals representing scheduling information may be transmitted by the wireless communications network via the physical downlink control channel and in which the communications device may increase the power to the receiver, the group control channel providing a channel of a wireless access interface provided by the wireless communications network for receiving group control information transmitted by the wireless communications network for a group of communications devices, the communications device being a member of the group, and the group control information received on the group control channel providing an indication of whether the communications device should configure the receiver to receive the scheduling information on the physical downlink control channel during a time period. The method further comprises, if the signals from the group control channel have been received by the receiver and the group control information indicates that the communications device should configure the receiver to receive the scheduling information on the physical downlink control channel during the time period and the time period is within the DRX on period, then controlling the receiver to restore power to the receiver so as to receive the scheduling information via the physical downlink control channel during the time period within the DRX on period indicated by the group control information,receivingthe signals representing scheduling information via the physical downlink control channel of the wireless access interface, and configuring the receiver to receive signals via a shared channel of the wireless access interface in accordance with the scheduling information. ]

    • A communications device is configured to receive data transmitted as encoded data packets from an infrastructure equipment of a wireless communications network. Each of the encoded data packets are transmitted as a control signal component and a data signal component. The control signal component carries control information for detecting and decoding the data signal component in which the encoded data carried by the encoded data packet is transmitted. As part of the ARQ-type protocol, at least the control signal component may be re-transmitted. By including with the control information carried by the retransmitted control signals an indication of at least a temporal location of the data signal component, which has already been transmitted and received in a buffer of a receiver, an improvement in a use of communications resource can be provided and also in some embodiments an improvement in a likelihood of correctly detecting and decoding an encoded data packet. For example if the control signal component in the first transmission was not received, then the retransmission of the control signal component can direct the receiver to the data signal component, which has already been transmitted and stored in the buffer without a requirement to retransmit the data signal component of the encoded data packet, thereby making more efficient use of the communications resources of the wireless access interface.
