摘要： Manganese vanadium tantalum oxide that can be represented by the formula MnxVyTazOw, where 1 = x = 3, 0.001 = y = 3, 0.001 = z = 2, and w = 7, and alternately, x = 1.25 = x = 2.45, 0.1 = y = 2.39, 0.2 = z = 1.9, and w = 7, methods of producing MnxVyTazOw, a particle that includes MnxVyTazOw and/or a chalcogenide glass layer, and a method of producing the particle are described. The disclosed manganese vanadium tantalum oxide has superior near- infrared reflective properties. The disclosed methods of producing the manganese vanadium tantalum oxide provide products with superior phase purity, appearance and performance and take health and safety into consideration. The construction of the disclosed particle combines the reflective properties of the substrate with the near- infrared reflective properties of MnxVyTazOw, while the chalcogenide glass layer provides aesthetic appeal. The disclosed method of producing the particle involves physical vapor deposition of MnxVyTazOw and/or the chalcogenide glass layer.

摘要： A colored platelet 10 comprises: a substrate 12, preferably formed of glass, silicon oxide, mica or aluminium oxide; an adhesion layer 15 which surrounds the substrate 12; and a colour pigment layer 18, wherein the colour pigment layer includes colour pigments that are attached to the adhesion layer 15. Preferably the adhesion layer 15 is an aminosilane monolayer selected from the group including 3-(N,N-dimethylaminopropyl) trimethoxysilane, (N,N-dimethyl-3-aminopropyl) methyldimethoxysilane, (dimethylamino) methylethoxysilane, N-n-butyl-aza-2,2-dimethoxysilacyclopentane, bis(3-trimethoxysilylpropyl-N-methylamine, N-allyl-aza-2,2-dimethoxysilacyclopentane, bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, N,N -bis(hydroxyethyl)-N,N -bis(trimethoxysilylpropyl)ethylenediamine and bis(methyldimethoxysilylpropyl)-N-methylamine. The coloured platelet may further include an oxide layer selected from iron oxide, silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide and zirconium oxide that surrounds the substrate. The coloured platelet may also include a secure layer 25 that secures the colour pigments to the adhesion layer. A method of producing a coloured platelet comprising: dispersing a substrate in a solvent to form a substrate dispersion; adding an aminosilane to the substrate dispersion so as to form an adhesion layer; and adding a colour pigment dispersion to the substrate dispersion so as to form a colour pigment layer is also outlined.
