    • A method of controlling uplink power level in a terminal (1) of a communication system, wherein the terminal transmits on a first uplink channel type (8) to a first base station (2) and transmits in soft handover on a second uplink channel type (9) to the first base station and to a second or subsequent base station (3, 4) comprises receiving power control commands at the terminal on a downlink dedicated channel (5, 6, 7) from each base station.
