This makes it possible to achieve a very low inductive commutation circuit whose inductance is less than half a minimal residual inductance.

According to the invention, the circuit capacitors (CB1, ..., CBn) are arranged each time in a diagonal manner between two thyristors (VP1, VN1, ..., VPn, VNn) which are connected in an anti-parallel manner, and the circuit resistors (RB1, ..., RBn+1) are arranged each time in a cross-connection (2) of the thyristor positions. As a result, a thyristor circuit can be obtained in which a thyristor (VP1, VN1, ..., VPn, VNn) is no longer periodically operated in the avalanche region during protective firing of the thyristor (VP1, VN1, ..., VPn, VNn) thereof connected in an anti-parallel manner.
