    • PURPOSE: To make extra-length processing of coated fibers compact by adopting a structure obtd. by intermittently fixing coated optical fibers with peelable adhesive tape adhering parallel optical fibers at intervals in the longitudinal direction to a coated optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: The coated optical fiber 11 is constituted by paralleling the four optical fibers 12 formed by applying a required coating 12b of a UV resin, etc., on the outer periphery of the optical fibers 12a and fixing the respective optical fibers 12 with the peelable adhesive tapes 13 adhering these fibers from both ends at intervals in the longitudinal direction. Namely, the coated optical fiber is composed of the structure obtd. by alternately providing the coated optical fiber with the coupling parts A where the four optical fibers 12, 12,... are integrally coupled like a tape and the non-coupling parts B where the four optical fibers 12, 12,... are not coupled and held in a free state. Thereby, the handling is made easy and a high-density packaging of the optical fibers 12a to a cable by lamination is made possible. The individual taking out of the optical fibers 12 in the non-coupling parts B is possible and the taking-out and dropping-down of only the required optical fibers 12 are possible as well.

    • PURPOSE: To enable aligned winding on a drum, to provide a degree of freedom in surplus lengths and to make it possible to assure the surplus lengths under any conditions by doubling and twisting an optical fiber cable core and a dummy wire, arranging a supporting wire in parallel with the center of doubling and twisting and providing the outer periphery with a canon protective coating. CONSTITUTION: The optical fiber cable core 4 and the dummy wire 5 are twisted opposite to each other and the supporting wire 6 consisting of a steel wire, etc., is disposed at the center of the opposite twists thereof. The outer periphery thereof is provided with the protective coating 7. The optical fiber cable core 4 is composed by, for example, arranging the tension member consisting of a steel wire, etc., at the center, doubling and twisting optical fiber units housing coated optical fibers around its outer periphery and further, providing the outer periphery thereof with the protective coating 7. The surplus lengths nearly uniform in the longitudinal direction are imparted to the coated optical fibers in the optical fiber cable core 4 with respect to the supporting wire and the surplus length rate is arbitrarily changeable by adjusting the coefft. of doubling and twisting in this constitution.
