摘要： A low profile gastrointestinal tube feeding system (10) having a securing member (12) for securing a feeding set (14) to a low profile gastrostomy tube (16). The low profile gastrostomy tube includes an external retention member (18) having legs that seat and retain the external retention member (18) against the patient's outer body and a tubular member that is disposed inside the stomach or other visceral organ through a stoma formed through the abdominal and stomach walls of a patient. A connection member (15) attaches to the external retention member (18) and is secured thereto using the securing member (12). The securing member (12) includes a top portion (90) and a bottom portion (91) which are adapted to simultaneously engage respective portions of the connection member (15) and external retention member (18) when the securing member (12) is brought into sliding engagement thereto. Thus, the securing member (12) prevents inadvertent removal of the feeding set (14) from the gastrostomy tube (16).

摘要： An inflation system (10, 110, 120, 130) for a balloon catheter assembly (12) includes an inflation tube (22), the first end of which is connectable to an inflation fluid reservoir (24, 30) and the second end of which is connectable to and opens into an inflatable cuff (20) on a main catheter (14) of the balloon catheter assembly, to permit the fluid reservoir to be in fluid communication with the cuff. A fluid reservoir is connectable to the inflation tube and is fillable with cuff inflation fluid only to a predetermined, fixed volume, to thereby permit no more than such volume of fluid to be transferred from the reservoir to the cuff during use of the system, to prevent over-inflation of the cuff and thereby avoid potential trauma to the patient.

摘要： The invention is a system (10, 110) for regulating volume in a retention cuff/balloon (20) in an indwelling catheter; i.e. , the combination of fixed-volume inflatable retention cuff mountable on a patient proximal end of an indwelling catheter (14) and relief valve (23, 123) connected to the cuff. The relief valve has ends for selective introduction of fluid to the cuff and for connection to an inflation tube. A valve port (24, 124) permits escape of excess fluid when a maximum cuff volume has been exceeded, and inflation tube (22) connects cuff (20) to the relief valve. The inflation tube has ends in fluid-tight connection to an interior of the cuff, and the relief valve to thereby permit the cuff and valve to be in fluid communication with each other for selective filling of the cuff to insert and safely retain an indwelling catheter in a patient for an extended period.

摘要： A low profile gastrointestinal tube feeding system having a securing device for securing a feeding set to a low profile gastrostomy tube thereof disposed inside the viscera of a patient's body so that inadvertent removal of the feeding set from the gastrostomy tube is prevented. The feeding set includes hollow tubing connected to a source of fluid at one end and a connection member at the other end for connection to the gastrostomy tube and establishing fluid flow communication with the patient. The low profile gastrostomy tube includes an external retention member having legs that seat and retain the external retention member against the patient's outer body and a tubular member that is disposed inside the stomach or other viscera of a patient. The connection member attaches to the external retention member and is secured thereto using a securing device. The securing device includes a top portion and a bottom portion which are adapted to simultaneously engage respective portions of the connection member and external retention member when the securing device is brought into sliding engagement thereto. The connection member is maintained in secure engagement with the external retention member through the securing device and neither part can be separated unless the securing device is first disengaged from either the connection member or external retention member. Thus, the securing device prevents inadvertent removal of the feeding set from the gastrostomy tube.
