    • PURPOSE:To shorten a sampling work time to a large extent and to enhance investigation efficiency to a large extent by eliminating the necessity for the extension or detachment of a rod. CONSTITUTION:The wire 4 delivered from a winch 3 is suspended to the scaffold 2 on a platform ship 1 to be supplied into water. An excavation pipe 5 is connected to the leading end of the wire 4 to be inserted in the accumulated earth and sand E on the bottom of the water. A grout pump 6, the hose reel 7 connected to the emitting end thereof, a vortex pump 8 and the hose reel 9 connected the suction end thereof are arranged on the platform ship 1 and the hoses 12,13 delivered from the respective reels 7.9 are connected to the excavation pipe 5. The excavation pipe 5 consists of an inner pipe 14 and the outer pipe 16 arranged around the leading end part of the inner pipe 14 and having an excavation cutter 15 provided to the leading end thereof and a jet water stream is emitted from the leading end of the outer pipe 16 and earth and sand are whirld up by said stream to be continuously transported to the platform ship 1 through the inner pipe 14.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To install a pipe in a position closer to an excavated hollow, without increasing the width of an excavated cross section serving as a construction base, by placing a curved reinforcing pipe for use in long size prelining construction. SOLUTION: This method for placing a reinforcing pipe involves using a bit 1 capable of boring a hole with a diameter that allows insertion of a pipe, to insert the pipe at the same time that the hole is bored in the natural ground, and leaving the pipe behind in the natural ground after the hole of a predetermined length is bored and the pipe is inserted. In this case, the pipe 4 curved as a reinforcing pipe is used, and a rod 2 with a bit 1 attached to its end is curved within its limit of toughness inside the pipe 4 and is freely rotationally supported to bore the hole, so that boring of the curved hole and insertion of the curve pipe 4 are effected simultaneously. The hole may be bored as a plurality of pipes are joined together, in such a way that only the pipe at the foremost end is the curved pipe 4, with following straight pipes joined to the curved pipe located at the foremost end.
