摘要： The purpose of the application is to fabricate a near field optical head (1000) capable of recording and reading high density information at high speed with excellent mass production. In the application, stoppers (2) having almost the same height as that of a tip (1) of conical or pyramidal shape are disposed around the tip, a part of a pressing body (6) covering the tip and the stoppers is displaced by an external force, a part of the pressing body having displaced is allowed to come into contact with an opaque film (3) near the point of the tip and thereby an aperture is formed. According to a fabricating method of the application, multiple apertures can be formed in a block. Thus, the near field optical head is excellent in mass production and the formed aperture has a structure of high optical efficiency and high resolution. Therefore, the near field optical head capable of performing recording/reading in high density and at high speed can be fabricated in excellent mass production.

摘要： A near-field optical head capable of rapid recording and/or reproducing of the information is provided. The near-field optical head condenses the light from the light source and irradiates the light on the minute opening 1. Then, by means of detecting the reflected light from the light condensing mark 501 provided on the circumference of the minute opening 1, the relative position between the light condensing point condensed by the lens and the light condensing mark 501 is detected so that the light condensing point is controlled to follow the light condensing mark 501. Thus, intensive and constant near-field light can be generated in the minute opening 1 and a signal having high S/N can be obtained even by a rapid scanning of the minute opening 1 over the recording medium so that rapid recording and/or reproducing of the information is made possible.

摘要： An information recording medium, an information reproducing apparatus and an information recording and reproducing apparatus capable of carrying out reproduction of information and tracking control by utilizing near-field light. Propagated light 14 is generated by making a data mark 4 formed at a light transmitting layer at an upper portion of an information recording medium 3 comprising a two layer structure of the light transmitting layer 11 and a light reflecting layer 12 and near-field light 5 generated by irradiating laser beam 8 to a very small aperture 2 of a planer probe 1 carry out interaction. The propagated light 14 passes through the light transmitting layer 11, reflected by the light reflecting layer 12, passes through the light transmitting layer 11 again and is emitted from a surface of the information recording medium 3. The propagated light 14 is received by light receiving elements 6 and 7 provided at the planer probe 1 and a reproduced signal is outputted. The propagated light 14 follows an optical path at least twice as much as a thickness of the light transmitting layer 11 and can be received as light having a sufficiently large amount. Further, the propagated light reflected by the reflecting layer is made to irradiate the information recording medium as assist light and high density recording by near-field light can be carried out.

摘要： An information recording medium from which recorded information is reproduced by using near-field light and the tracking of which can be controlled by using the same. An information reproducing device and an information recording/reproducing device are also disclosed. An information recording medium (3) has a double-layer structure of a light-transmitting layer (11) and a light-reflecting layer (12). A laser beam (8) is made to pass through a small opening (2) in a plane probe (1) thereby to produce near-field light (5), which interacts with a data mark (4) formed in the light-transmitting layer (11) thereby to produce propagation light (14). The propagation light (14) passes through the light-transmitting layer (11), is reflected from the light-reflecting layer (12), passes again through the light-transmitting layer (11), and emerges from the information recording medium (3). The propagation light (14) is received by photodetectors (6, 7) provided to the plane probe (1) to produce a reproduced signal. The propagation light (14) travels an optical path the distance of which is twice or more the thickness of the light-transmitting layer (11) and has an intensity strong enough when received by the photodetectors. High-density recording by the use of near-field light is achieved by directing the propagation light reflected by the reflecting layer as assisting light to the information recording medium.
