    • An ink refill container, when a vertical direction is an up and down direction, one direction perpendicular to the up and down direction is a front-back direction and a direction perpendicular to the up and down direction and to the front-back direction is a left-right direction, configured to refill ink to an ink tank. The ink refill container is provided with, an ink storage chamber, a needle having a flow passage communicating with the ink storage chamber and extending upward from below, and a receiving surface that extends in a direction intersecting with an extending direction of the needle at a position above an end of the needle, and in which a circular hole-shaped ink inlet including the needle arranged therein, and a pair of rectangular holes continuous to the ink inlet and extending in the front-back direction are formed downward to be open in the receiving surface. The ink refill container comprises a container main body; and an ink outlet-forming portion that is connected to the container main body and has an ink outlet. When the ink outlet is directed upward, and viewed from the ink outlet in a direction of a central axis of the ink outlet the ink refill container also comprises a pair of convex portions that extend in the front-back direction and the up and down direction in a radially outward region of the ink outlet with the ink outlet at a center, and are configured to be insertable in the pair of rectangular holes respectively; and a positioning portion having parts located on a left side and a right side across the pair of convex portions at a position lower than a position of the ink outlet. The positioning portion is configured to abut against the receiving surface having an opening edge of the ink inlet and the rectangular holes, with the pair of convex portions inserted in the rectangular holes.

    • According to the present invention, a method of driving an ink-jet recording head comprising nozzle openings (6), pressure generating chambers (2) each communicating with reservoirs (3) via ink supply ports and having the Helmholtz resonance frequency with a period Tc, and piezo-electric vibrators (11) for expanding and contracting the respective pressure generating chambers, comprises a first step of expanding the pressure generating chamber; a second step of continuously expanding the pressure chamber at a volumetric speed different to that at the first step; and a third step of contracting the pressure generating chamber (2) in an expanded state. The method is such that an ink droplet fit for printing is jetted by generating vibration at the Helmholtz resonance frequency, whereby the generation of a satellite or an ink mist resulting from a swollen-back meniscus is prevented by minimising meniscus vibration. Thus, meniscus attenuating time is shortened by minimising the meniscus vibration in order to make a printing operation performable at a high driving frequency.
