    • The invention relates to a data storage computer tool that comprises a correspondence module (40) connected to storage units (38), said correspondence module (40) including a correspondence function for determining at least a first and a second storage address from a virtual address received at the input, characterised in that the correspondence function is adapted so that: the tool includes a rule for distributing at least a portion of the storage addresses into a working group and a selected number of failure groups on the basis of a failure tolerance criterion, said rule implying that at least one of the storage units includes storage addresses associated with the work group and storage addresses associated with at least one failure group; the tool further maintains a resilience table containing inputs each associating a failure group and a storage unit based on the failure state of said storage unit, said correspondence function being adapted for allocating by blocks at least a portion of the virtual addresses to storage addresses belonging to the work group by carrying out a hashing of the virtual addresses on the work group; and said correspondence function being adapted for allocating, in case of failure of a storage unit, at least a portion of the virtual addresses associated with the storage addresses on said storage unit, to storage addresses belonging to a failure group to which the failing storage unit is associated in the resilience table.
