摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved air handling method for a printhead. SOLUTION: A printhead is pressurized by filtered air supplied by a printhead docking station. This station has a fan 2 moving air to transfer the same into the head from the station and the head receives air from the station to guide an air stream to the region around a jet row. The guided air reduces the leakage of air into a region separated from the jet row region from the head. The plenums 7 in the head and (or) the station traverses the width of the head to distribute air and air filtered by the filters in the head and (or) station is supplied to the head by the station. The seal 14 of an eyelid and a seamless cover 10 minimize the leakage of air from the head to ensure an air stream necessary in the important region around the jets.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To feedback a pressure and a position of an eyelid to a printing station by setting a switch means for determining the position of the eyelid. SOLUTION: A switch means 55 set to an eyelid main boy 3 is used to detect the eyelid at a close position and a printing position. The switch means 55 is operated by a finger 54 of an actuator plate 53 mounted to a base 6 when the eyelid is closed sufficiently. A high-voltage interlock is provided to determine the close position and printing position of the eyelid, which has many switch operation positions set thereto. A means for determining the position opens one switch and closes another switch at a desired position. A motor controller opens/closes the switch if necessary on the basis of a state of the switch, thereby providing an appropriate opening.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove dried deposits without using mechanical contact at all which could abrade or damage orifices by using a cleaning fluid having a low surface tension for dissolving or flushing a material from the orifices. SOLUTION: A solenoid-operated air vent valve 9 permits a cleaning liquid to flow into a liquid drop generator 10 through a filter 11. When vacuum is supplied to the liquid drop generator 10 through an opened outlet valve 14, the cleaning fluid flushes away ink residues from an interior of the liquid drop generator 10. When the outlet valve 14 is closed, the cleaning fluid flows through an orifice 12. The cleaning fluid then rinses ink residues from a charge plate face and a catcher 13. When the catcher 13 is turned to a vacuum state, the cleaning fluid is returned together with the ink residues to a fluid device. An outer face of the generator 10, the charge plate face and catcher 13 are cleaned in this manner.

摘要： A system and method are provided for cleaning the printhead of a continuous ink jet printing system. A cleaning fluid is introduced and used to flush ink residues and debris from the interior of the drop generator, the exterior of the orifice plate, the charge plate face and the catcher face. This system and method removes dried ink residues and other debris and deposits by providing a cleaning fluid with a low surface tension to dissolve or flush away the unwanted material from the orifices. This is particularly advantageous in that the flushing and rinsing is accomplished without mechanical contact which could abrade or damage the orifices.

摘要： In a continuous ink jet printing system, the printhead is pressurized by the flow of filtered air supplied by the printhead docking station to which it is attached or docked. The printhead docking station has at least one fan for moving air and for transferring the air from the printhead docking station into the printhead. The printhead receives air for the printhead docking station, and directs the air flow to the region around the jet array. The directing of air flow to the region around the jet array can also include reduction of air leakage from the printhead in regions which are away from the jet array region, such as by the use of a seamless cover, and eyelid sealing. Plenum located in at least the printhead and/or printhead docking station serve to distribute the air across the width of the printhead. Filter media located in at least the printhead and/or printhead docking station are used to clean the air supplied to the printhead by the printhead docking station. In this way, filtered air is supplied to the ink jet printhead by the printhead docking station to which it is attached. The use of a one piece printhead cover and seals around the movable eyelid minimize air leakage from the printhead, ensuring the needed air flow in the critical region around the jets.
