The outer layer (22) consists of a non-woven laminate, which contains at least one outer ply of spunbound and an inner ply of at least one meltbown. The tape means (23) is permanently attached to the outer layer (22) with such adhesion that the tape means withstands a load of at least 25 N in said tape flap without any risk of the tape means coming away from the outer layer.

According to the invention, the method comprises the following steps: a) first separate side panels (10), which each comprise two parts connected to each other by means of a detachable and resealable connection (14), are secured to the side portions of the front portions (4) or rear portions (5) of the diaper pants blanks, b) second separate side panels (11) are secured to the side portions of those of the front portions or rear portions of the diaper pants blanks which are not provided with or are intended to be provided with first side panels, after which c) individual diaper pants blanks provided with side panels are cut out from the web of interconnected diaper pants blanks, d) each diaper pants blank is folded about a transverse axis in the crotch portion so that the front and rear portions of the blank lie against each other, e) after which the first and second side panels of each diaper pants blank which have been folded toward each other are secured to each other. The invention also relates to diaper pants produced by means of the method.
