摘要： A video processor that uses a low latency pyramid processing technique for fusing images from multiple sensors. The imagery from multiple sensors is enhanced, warped into alignment, and then fused with one another in a manner that provides the fusing to occur within a single frame of video, i.e., sub-frame processing. Such sub-frame processing results in a sub-frame delay between a moment of capturing the images to the display of the fused imagery.

The exemplary method includes filtering the image data in a spatiotemporal plane to identify regions that exhibit various spatiotemporal characterisitics. The output data provided by these filters is then used to classify the data.

摘要： A method and apparatus for encoding a data sequence is disclosed. A data sequence is received. The data sequence is encoded such that the encoded data sequence comprises a plurality of data elements having assigned priorities. Data packets are generated using the encoded data sequence, where each data packet comprises only data elements of identical priority. The data packets are tagged with a priority descriptor indicating the priority of the data elements contained therein. Also disclosed is a method and apparatus for processing at least one packet. At least one packet is received, where each packet includes a priority descriptor that indicates a priority of at least one data element contained therein. Packets may then be selectively discarded based upon the priority descriptor.

摘要： A system and process for true multi-image alignment that does not rely on the measurements of a reference image being distortion free. For instance, lens distortion is a common imaging phenomenon. When lens distortion is present, none of the images can be assumed to be ideal. In an embodiment of the invention, all the images are modeled as intensity measurements represented in their respective coordinate system, each of which is related to a reference coordinate system through an interior camera transformation and and an exterior view transformation. Motion parameters (16, 17, 18) determined in accordance with an embodiment of the invention dictate the position of the input frames (11, 12, 13) within the reference frame (15). A reference coordinate system is used, but not a reference image. Motion parameters (16, 17, 18) are computed to warp all input images to a virtual image mosaic in the reference coordinate system of the reference frame (15). Each pixel in the virtual image mosaic may be predicted by intensities at corresponding pixel positions from more than one image. The error measure, which is the sum of the variances of predicted pixel intensities at each pixel location summed over the virtual image mosaic, is minimized. The embodiment of the invention advantageously maximally uses information present in all images.
