    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver that can perform demapping processing at an OFDM demodulation section by a simple configuration at a high speed.
      SOLUTION: When I and Q data that are subjected to A/D conversion, FFT, frequency deinterleave, and time deinterleave from a tuner are mapped, different processing is made depending on whether a coordinate point on an IQ plane of an input signal exists near an axis or not. When the coordinate point does not exist near the axis, the coordinate point is projected to a first quadrant of the IQ plane for processing. Contrarily, when the coordinate point exists near the axis, the coordinate point is projected to the positive region of I and Q axes for processing. For example, in the case of 64 QAM, the symmetry properties of constellation are utilized, and the size of a demapping circuit is reduced even if soft judgement for expressing the accuracy of each bit of six bits corresponding to 64 points by three bits is performed.
