摘要： Digital broadcasting transmission/reception systems capable of improving the synchronization acquisition and the equalization performance, and signal processing methods thereof. The digital broadcasting transmission/reception systems include a FEC encoder encoding an incoming signal according to a FEC scheme, a sync signal insertion unit inserting into the encoded signal a segment sync signal including modified segment syncs, a pilot insertion unit inserting a pilot signal into the sync-inserted signal, a pulse shaping filter pulse-shaping the pilot-inserted signal with a roll-off factor, and a RF unit transmitting the pulse-shaped signal through a transmission channel band. The modified segment sync includes a predetermined number of sync signals, and an average of correlation values with respect to the predetermined number of the sync signals has an auto-correlation property. The transmission scheme utilizing the modified segment syncs promotes compatibility with the conventional reception system, minimizes hardware complexity, and enhances synchronization acquisition and equalization performance.

摘要： A digital broadcast transmission system and a signal processing method thereof offers improved receptability. The digital broadcast transmission system includes an error correction encoding unit for encoding an input signal according to a predetermined error correction method; a synchronous signal inserting unit for inserting a synchronous signal in the input signal after the error correction encoding; a first pilot inserting unit for inserting a first pilot signal in the input signal which contains the synchronous signal therein; a second pilot inserting unit for inserting a plurality of second pilot signals in the input signal which contains the first pilot signal therein; a pulse shaping filter for pulse shaping the input signal with the first and the second pilot signals according to a predetermined roll-off factor; and a radio frequency (RF) unit for transmitting the pulse-shaped input signal to a transmission channel band. By inserting a plurality of pilot signals in the transmitted data, problems associated with disappearance of only pilot signal due to poor channel environment can be overcome.

摘要： A method for processing a stream of a digital broadcast receiver is provided. The method which processes a stream that is divided into a first area allocated to first mobile data and a second area allocated to normal data, includes: receiving a transport stream including new mobile data in at least a part of the second area separately from the first mobile data, demodulating the transport stream, equalizing the demodulated transport stream, and decoding at least one of the first mobile data and the new mobile data from the equalized transport stream. Accordingly, mobile data services may be provided in various ways.

The transmitting system includes an adaptor for, when receiving a first stream, making a space in the first stream to insert a second stream; a Reed-Solomon (RS) encoder for RS-encoding the input second stream; a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) processor for converting the RS-encoded second stream to a stream comprising an added CRC bit sequence; and a stuffer for inserting the stream to the space in the first stream and outputting a transport stream.
