摘要： A method and apparatus are provided for improving compression efficiency or picture quality by selecting a wavelet transform technique suitable to input video/image scene characteristics in video/image compression. The video encoder includes a temporal transform module that removes temporal redundancy of an input frame and generates a residual frame, a selection module that selects an appropriate wavelet filter among a plurality of wavelet filters having different taps according to a spatial correlation of the residual frame, a wavelet transform module that generates wavelet coefficients by performing wavelet transform on the residual frame using the selected wavelet filter, and a quantization module that quantizes the wavelet coefficients.

The deblocking filtering method includes choosing a present block and its neighboring block on which a deblocking filtering will be performed, judging whether the present block and the neighboring block have been coded by the intra BL mode, choosing a deblocking filter strength according to the result of the judgment, and performing the deblocking filtering with respect to a boundary between the present block and the neighboring block and according to the deblocking filter strength.

摘要： Video coding and decoding methods using interlayer filtering and a video encoder and decoder using the same are provided. Multi-layer video coding employing a plurality of video coding algorithms can improve video coding efficiency by using interlayer filtering. The video coding method includes encoding video frames using a first video coding scheme, performing interlayer filtering on the frames encoded by the first video coding scheme, encoding the video frames using a second video coding scheme by referring to the frames subjected to the interlayer filtering, and generating a bitstream containing the frames encoded by the first and second video coding schemes.

摘要： A method and apparatus for efficiently predecoding a hybrid bitstream generated by a plurality of coding schemes are provided. The method includes obtaining a first bit-rate for a boundary between the lower layer bitstream and the upper layer bitstream and a second bit-rate for a boundary between motion information and texture information of the upper layer bitstream from the input hybrid bitstream, determining the target bit-rate according to variable network circumstances, and when the target bit-rate is between the first and second bit-rates, skipping the motion information of the upper layer bitstream and truncating all bits of the texture information of the upper layer bitstream from the tail, except bits corresponding to the difference between the target bit-rate and the first bit-rate.

The method includes obtaining a motion vector in a base layer frame having a first frame rate from an input frame, obtaining a motion vector in a first enhancement layer frame having a second frame rate from the input frame, the second frame rate being greater than the first frame rate, generating a predicted motion vector by referring to a motion vector for at least one frame among base layer frames present immediately before and after the same temporal position as the first enhancement layer frame if there is no base layer frame at the same temporal position as the first enhancement layer frame, and coding a difference between the motion vector in the first enhancement layer frame and the generated predicted motion vector, and the obtained motion vector in the base layer.

The scalable video coding method includes receiving a GOP, performing temporal filtering and spatial transformation thereon, quantizing and generating a bitstream. The scalable video encoder for performing the scalable video coding method includes a weight determination block which determines a weight for scaling. The scalable video decoding method includes dequantizing the coded image information obtained from a received bitstream, performing descaling, inverse spatial transformation, and inverse temporal filtering on the scaled transform coefficients, thereby recovering video frames. The scalable video decoder for performing the scalable video decoding method includes an inverse weighting block. The standard deviation of Peak Signal to Noise Ratios (PSNRs) of frames included in a group of pictures (GOP) is reduced so that video coding performance can be increased.
