    • There are provided an input file generating method and system using meta representation of depth image based representation ( DIBR) data compression, and an AFX encoding method and apparatus. The input file generating method includes preparing an XMT schema which defines a compression node containing DIBR data and an encoding parameter, BitWrapperEncodingHints, and AFXConfig; preparing an XMT2BIFS style sheet and an XMT2MUX style sheet; making a scene file and a mux file by parsing an input XMT file according to the XMT schema using the XMT2BIFS and XMT2MUX style sheets; determining whether the scene file includes uncompressed DIBR object data; and when the DIBR object data is not compressed, compressing the DIBR object data into a bitstream using an DIBR encoding parameter in the scene file and making a modified scene file and a modified mux file . Accordingly, an author can easily write and compress DIBR data and make an input file to be input to an MPEG-4 encoding unit using meta representation during authoring of 3D content, regardless of whether the input file contains an already compressed bitstream, or an uncompressed bitstream and an encoding parameter. Therefore, it is possible to visualize or animate DIBR object data in real time even at a low network bandwidth.
