摘要： A variable displacement fluid working machine for use in applications where a large fluid working machine is required at an inaccessible location, for example, in the nacelle of a wind turbine tower. The machine includes an inward ring and an outward ring, one of the inward ring and the outward ring comprising a rotatable ring cam coupled to a drive shaft, the other comprising a plurality of radially extending piston cylinders circumferentially spaced around the respective ring. The outward ring comprising first and second axially spaced structural members and a plurality of demountable blocks demountably retainable therebetween, the demountable blocks comprising either piston cylinders or ring cam segments. The demountable blocks are removable radially to facilitate maintenance and repair and to facilitate radial access to the inward ring. Components of the inward ring may also be removed radially through the resulting gap. The demountable blocks also have a structural function, enabling the mass of the machine to be less than would otherwise be required.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method of operating a fluid-working machine wherein the volume of working fluid displaced each cycle is selectable and wherein the volume of working fluid displaced by a first working chamber takes into account the suitability of the working chamber to displace fluid. The invention extends in further aspects to power absorbing structures such as renewable energy devices comprising such fluid working machines. The invention allows the operation of fluid working machines and power absorbing structures which are more long lived.

摘要： Apparatus and method for extracting the tremendous energy from a wave pattern as for example on the surface of a body of water which comprises a plurality of movable members so shaped that the surface of the member which engages the incoming wave causes the member to rotate about a substantially horizontal axis and remove energy from the wave and wherein the rear portion of the movable member is constructed so as to move with minimum energy transfer between the movable member and the fluid. The energy extracted by the movable member is converted into a hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, or chemical energy so as to allow the wave energy to be directly converted into useable form.
