摘要： An ammunition article comprises a polymer cartridge case formed of a polymer composition comprising a thermoplastic polymer, preferably the polymer composition having a density of less than 1.35 determined in accordance with ASTM D792, the polymer cartridge case having a first end, an opposing second end, and a chamber disposed between the first end and the second end for receiving a propellant; a projectile attached to the first end of the polymer cartridge case; a metal base insert joined to the second end of the polymer cartridge case; and a primer carried by the metal base insert; wherein the metal base insert and the polymer cartridge case remain joined together as a single piece assembly upon loading, firing and removal from a chamber of a firearm for a polymer case temperature of -65°F (-54°C) to 165°F (74°C).

摘要： Method of making an extruded thin film comprising: melt filtering an amorphous thermoplastic composition comprising an amorphous thermoplastic polymer with a glass transition temperature Tg of 130°C to 280°C to form a melt filtered amorphous thermoplastic composition; extruding the melt filtered amorphous thermoplastic composition into strands at a temperature TE; cooling the strands to a temperature Tc to form cooled strands; cutting the cooled strands into pellets having a length of 2.0 to 6.0 millimeters; treating the pellets at a temperature Ts to remove particulates having at least one of length, width, and height of less than 0.5 millimeters to form treated pellets; melting the treated pellets in an extruder at a temperature Tp to form a molten composition; and extruding the molten composition through a flat die to form a film having an average thickness less than or equal to 50 micrometers.

Various embodiments relate to a method of compatibilizing a blend of polysulfone and polyphenylene sulfide. The method can include a) melt mixing a polysulfone and a polyetherimide; and b) melt mixing a polyphenylene sulfide and an epoxy. Step a) and b) can be carried out by one of sequential mixing and simultaneous mixing. Alternatively, the method can include a) melt mixing a polyphenylene sulfide, a polyetherimide, and an epoxy to form an initial mixture; and b) melt mixing the initial mixture of step a) with a polysulfone.

The resulting polyetherimide composition exhibits two or more useful properties. The polyetherimide composition can optionally further be combined with a polymer different from the polyetherimide to provide a thermoplastic composition. Methods of making the polyetherimide composition and articles including the polyetherimide composition are also described.
