    • An electrical connector (10) for connecting an electrical plug (30) having prongs to circuitry (20) has a pair of electrically conductive sockets (40, 50) adapted to receive the plug prongs (34, 35). Each socket has an inner leg (42, 52), an outer leg (44, 54), an a portion (46, 56) which is narrower than a plug prong. An elastically deformable supporting member (60) supports the sockets with a pair of cantilevered inner supports (70, 80), which support the inner legs and define a cavity (68) between the sockets into which the inner supports can be deflected. This allows the inner legs to deflect when the plug prongs are inserted into the sockets past the narrow portions. An intermediate member (90) is disposed in the cavity and contacts at least one inner support at a fulcrum point (76, 86) at which the intermediate member opposes deflection of the inner support into the cavity, causing the corresponding inner leg to grip the plug prong with a retention force. If desired, a thermal cutoff mechanism can interrupt the electrical connection between the circuitry and one of the sockets when the intermediate member exceeds a threshold temperature, thereby disconnecting the plug.

    • This invention provides an air freshener dispenser device which consits of (a) a transparent container (12) which has a content of liquid air freshener medium (20), (b) a transparent nonporous insert sleeve (14) which is coextensive with the container sidewall interior surface, and (c) a container closure (15) comprising a vapor-emanating surface means (16), such as an absorbent matrix, which is in contact with the insert sleeve. The insert sleeve surface and the sidewall interior surface are in a capillary spacing proximity which provides an upward wicking passageway for transmission of the liquid air freshener medium to the vapor-emanating surface for evaporation into the atmosphere.

    • An overcap sprayer assembly and method of its manufacture. The overcap sprayer assembly includes an actuator and an overcap. The actuator has a body and a sprayer arm. The body includes means for attachment preferably to the valve cup rim of the can. A skirt extends circumferentially around the perimeter of the body. At least one actuator access port provides access through the skirt to the interior of the body. The sprayer arm of the actuator has a nozzle adapted to direct spray outwardly through an actuator access port. The overcap attaches to the skirt of the actuator body in coaxially turning relation thereto. An overcap wall extends downwardly from the outer margins of the overcap dome, surrounding the actuator body. The overcap also has at least one overcap access port that may be moved between an open position, wherein an overcap access port is aligned with the actuator access port through which the nozzle is adapted to direct spray, and a closed position, wherein the overcap wall obstructs the actuator access port. Preferably a lock member extends from one of the actuator body and the overcap to project into and engage an opposed locking port of the other of the actuator body and overcap. Preferably the locking port is an access port. The lock member has an unlocked position, wherein it is not engaged in an opposed locking port and the overcap may freely turn on the actuator body, and a locked position assumed when the lock member becomes aligned with an opposed locking port, projects thereinto, and engages the opposed locking port, resisting further overcap turning.

    • A process is disclosed for the continuous production, with reduced gel formation, of free radical addition polymers from ethylenically unsaturated monomers containing at least one free hydroxyl group such as 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, from about 0 to about 5 % by weight of an alpha-beta unsaturated carboxylic acid such as acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, and the remainder of the monomers used are free radical addition copolymerizable compounds such as styrene, methyl methacrylate and butyl acrylate. The free radical addition polymerization is conducted at from about 150 DEG C to about 310 DEG C under superatmospheric pressure in the presence of one or more solvents. The solvent or the volume average of the solvent mixture has an overall calculated root mean square value of the hydrogen bonding and polar contributions of each solvent's solubility parameters in the range of from about 6 to about 15. The solvent or solvents in total have sufficient volatility under the conditions being used to conduct the polymerization such that any liquid condensate of vapor mixture forming on interior surfaces of the reactor equipment located above the surface of the monomer reactants contains at least 50 mole percent of the solvent to reduce gel formation on such interior surfaces. The process permits the continuous polymerization of the polymers over extended periods of time with reduced formation of gel particles and gel deposits.
