    • A routing guide system has memory means provided outside a mobile body for storing data of images at a plurality of guide points. The routing guide system also has distance measuring means for measuring the distance from the current position of the mobile body to the next guide point. The routing guide system also has image request generation means for generating an image request for the next guide point when the distance measured by the distance measuring means is not more than a first predetermined distance. The routing guide system also has transmission means provided outside the mobile body for reading from the memory means an image of the next guide point in response to the image request and for transmitting that image to the mobile body. The routing guide system also has display control means for causing the mobile body to receive the image transmitted from the transmission means and causing a display device to display the image.

    • A road landscape map producing apparatus is loaded on a movable body, and produces a road landscape map. The road landscape map includes road landscape information showing a surrounding landscape in a road. The road landscape information includes road landscape classification items obtained by classifying the surrounding landscape into some items, e.g., “streetscape”, “forest” and “open road”. A photographing device such as a camera photographs surrounding images in accordance with movement of the movable body. A still picture is photographed as the surrounding image. The surrounding image is classified into the road landscape classification items by an image process. Based on a geographic position at which the surrounding image is photographed, the road landscape classification item is associated with the map information. Thereby, the road landscape map is produced. Since the produced road landscape map includes the road landscape information showing the road landscape at each point, by displaying the map, it becomes possible to easily know the landscape at each point on the map.
