    • Provided are a microcapsule emulsion which can release almost all the amount of a biological active substance comprised therein at a constant release rate over a prolonged period, and a method for producing the same. More specifically, provided is the microcapsule emulsion comprising an emulsion particle formed by emulsion polymerization of a total amount of 15 to 90 parts by weight of a first monofunctional alkyl (meth)acrylate ester and a first multifunctional (meth)acrylate ester in the presence of 100 parts by weight of a biological active substance; and a coated layer on the emulsion particle, the layer being formed by emulsion polymerization of a total amount of 20 to 200 parts by weight of a second monofunctional alkyl (meth)acrylate ester and a second multifunctional (meth)acrylate ester in the presence of the emulsion particle; wherein difference in carbon numbers between an alkyl group of the first monofunctional alkyl (meth)acrylate ester and an alkyl group of the second monofunctional alkyl (meth)acrylate ester is from 3 to 17.

    • Provided is an annular sustained release preparation to be used by opening a center portion thereof, the preparation having a strength enough to avoid cleaving at a welded end portion. More specifically, provided is an annular sustained release preparation comprising at least two polymer tubes having both ends sealed and integrated by pressure-welding or at least one polymer tube and at least one polymer rod having both ends sealed and integrated by pressure-welding; and a sex pheromone liquid contained by at least one of the tubes or the tube; wherein an annular space can be formed by pulling the tubes or the tube and the rod apart from each other at a center portion therebetween, the central portion not having been pressure-welded; and an angle formed between a line connecting respective centers of diameters of the tubes welded to each other or the tube and the rod welded to each other and the pressure application direction is from 0 to 45°.

    • An improved method is proposed for the preparation of a sex pheromone dispenser used in the elimination of pest insects from the field by the disruption of mating of the insects by distributing sustained-release dispensers containing the sex pheromone compound of the insect over the field. According to the invention, pheromone dispensers made from a polyolefin-based resin and filled with the liquid pheromone are subjected, prior to distribution over the field at a relatively low temperature in early spring, to a pretreatment of keeping them at 35.degree. to 60.degree. C. until the dispenser walls of the polyolefin resin absorb 2 to 10% by weight of the pheromone. When the dispensers after the pre-treatment are distributed, a relatively high rate of pheromone release can be obtained at the low temperature as compared with untreated dispensers so that the rate of pheromone release can be relatively uniform over the whole period of the season in which the pheromone dispensers are kept over the field.
