    • An in-vehicle communication apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes: a wireless communication device; a vehicle stop state determination section configured to determine whether a vehicle is in a stop state or a not-stop state; a connectibility determination section configured to determine whether wireless communication between the wireless communication device and the mobile communication network is possible or impossible; and a control section configured to cause a notification device to notify notice information when the vehicle is determined to be in the stop state and when the wireless communication is determined to be impossible. The notice information indicates that position of the vehicle in the stop state is within an area where the wireless communication is impossible.

    • When determining a collision possibility of a vehicle while an emergency report is not being executed, an in-vehicle emergency report apparatus secures a wireless communications resource by one of the following: (i) Rejecting a connection request for connecting a wireless communications link from a navigation system to a wireless communications device in respect of another use other than an emergency report; (ii) Disconnecting the wireless communications link connected by the wireless communications device according to a connection request from the navigation system in respect of another use other than an emergency report; (iii) Notifying the navigation system of prohibition of connecting the wireless communications link by the wireless communications device in another use other than an emergency report; and (iv) Restricting a connection band of the wireless communications link in the wireless communications device in respect of another use other than an emergency report from the navigation system.

    • An in-vehicle emergency communicator for a vehicle with an external device is disclosed. The communicator includes a travel state information receiver for receiving travel state information from the external device. The communicator also includes a transmitter for transmitting an emergency message signal, which includes the travel state information, to a service center. The communicator includes a controller for performing an emergency message operation, in which the transmitter transmits the emergency message signal when an emergency message trigger signal is inputted and an ignition signal from an ignition switch is in an ON-state. The controller analyzes the travel state information when the ignition signal from the ignition switch is in an OFF-state to determine whether the ignition signal is out of order. When it is detected that the ignition signal is out of order, the controller causes an indicator to indicate that the ignition signal is out of order.

    • In an emergency report apparatus in a vehicle, even though a power switch is turned into an OFF state, an execution enabled state of an emergency report process is maintained when an occupant is determined to be in the vehicle. Therefore, even when a necessity of executing an emergency report process arises after the power switch is turned into the OFF state, it is unnecessary to turn the power switch into the ON state, thereby improving the usability. In addition, after the power switch is turned into the OFF state, an execution disabled state is designated when the occupant is determined to be not in the vehicle. Such an execution disabled state restricts the electric power supply from an in-vehicle battery, thereby reducing the power consumption and helping prevent the battery from running out.

    • In accordance with the present disclosure, newly acquired position is transmitted to a service center to accurately provide a vehicle position when a starting trigger of an emergency call occurs even in a situation where position information is unobtainable from a navigation system. When a problem occurs in a navigation system or a communication line while the navigation system is running, and an in-vehicle emergency call unit becomes unable to receive position information from the navigation system, the in-vehicle emergency call unit saves position information that a positioning unit has acquired by autonomous positioning instead of position information received from and acquired by the navigation system. The in-vehicle emergency call unit then transmits to a service center the saved position information when a starting trigger occurs.
