摘要： An electrochemical cell is provided that includes a housing that is polygonal in cross-section having a plurality of peripherally spaced corners. The electrochemical cell also includes an ion-conducting separator disposed in the housing. The ion-conducting separator has an anode surface defining a portion of an anode compartment and a cathode surface defining a portion of a cathode compartment. The electrochemical cell also includes an anode current collector system comprising at least one biasing component. The biasing component has a span section, a bias section and an interface section. The bias section is in wicking contact with the anode surface of the separator. The number of biasing components in the anode current collector system differs from the number of the peripherally spaced corners. An energy storage device including a plurality of the electrochemical cells in thermal and/or in electrical communication with each other. A method for forming the biasing component is provided.

摘要： An apparatus including a housing having walls is provided. The walls of the housing each have inner surfaces and outer surfaces. The walls may include apertures extending from the inner surface to the outer surface. The inner surfaces of the walls define a volume. The volume includes an electrode. The volume further includes a water-controlling separator disposed between the inner surface of the housing and the electrode. The water-controlling separator can block a flow of liquid from the electrode through the apertures to the ambient environment while allowing oxidant to flow from the ambient environment through the apertures to the electrode.

摘要： A method of reducing the organic compounds in an aqueous stream by generating an oxidant in-situ using at least one electrolytic cell. The method may comprise contacting at least a portion of the aqueous stream with the electrolytic cell. The electrolytic cell may have at least two electrodes, wherein at least one electrode is a metal electrode and, a power source for powering the at least two electrodes. A water treatment system for generating an oxidant in-situ comprising at least one electrolytic cell. The electrolytic cell may have at least two electrodes, wherein at least one electrode is a metal electrode, and a power source for powering the at least two electrodes. A method of improving the rejection rate of a reverse osmosis membrane using an oxidant generated in-situ. The method may comprise contacting at least a portion of the aqueous stream with the electrolytic cell thereby creating an oxidized aqueous stream. At least a portion of the oxidized aqueous stream may be fed through a reverse osmosis membrane. The electrolytic cell may comprise at least two electrodes, wherein at least one electrode is a metal electrode, and a power source for powering the at least two electrodes.
