    • A method (300) and communication device (106) capable of streamlining call setups to a wireless mobile unit (102) may include a transceiver (520) and a controller (502). In various embodiments of the invention, the controller detects (302) a modified request for a communication resource, optionally monitors (304) a communication system loading parameter, and sends (406 or 408) an assignment for a larger than anticipated allocation of the communication resource upon detecting the modified request or when the system loading parameter falls below a predetermined threshold. The controller may also receive (410) via the larger than anticipated allocation of the communication resource both an anticipated initial data transmission and an initial user data transmission in a first data transmission from the mobile wireless unit.

    • A method (300) and a network device (112) for providing a service in a network (100) are disclosed. The network includes an originator device, a network device and one or more target devices. The method includes receiving (304) a request from the originator device for initiating the service with the one or more target devices.     • The present embodiments provide apparatuses, methods and systems for use in notifying a remote communication device when a local wireless device loses its wireless link. In some embodiments, a method detects when a wireless connection is lost with a first communication device, identifies a second communication device that is communicating with the first device, and notifies the second device of the lost link. In some implementations, the notification of the lost link is supplied while the method provides batch communications. Some embodiments provide voice communications, where a remote device is notified when a local device loses its wireless connection. The second device can be determined by querying a server. The notifying can include forwarding an in-band tone, and/or generating a real time protocol packet. In some embodiments, the loss of the link is detected through a radio access network, a packet control function, and/or a mobile switching center.
