    • A four trailer portable concrete batching and mixing plant has production volumes of up to 600 cubic yards of concrete per hour of paving concrete meeting exacting modem paving standards. A first mixer trailer with a mounted water tank forms the plant frame foundation at a twelve-yard compulsory mixer. A second silo trailer having 900 barrel capacity has cantilever support from a steered towing wheel set at the bottom of the silo. The silo trailer is backed at the steered towing wheel set to the side of the compulsory mixer trailer and pinned at its cantilevered connection for pivotal erection. Once pinned to the side of the compulsory mixer trailer, a silo trailer contained jacking system self erects the silo utilizing the compulsory mixer and trailer as a foundation. With the silo erected, a third aggregate trailer occupies the footprint vacated by the erected silo. Fourth, a control trailer having a control booth, power plant and liquid admixture storage is adjustably positioned on the site to complete the plant.

    • A conventional telescoping frame on a paving tractor is provided with fixed male extension members for insertion to and attachment with a telescoping frame member. The conventional telescoping frame includes paired forward and paired rear side-by-side female tube members. Each forward and rear tube member conventionally acts for the telescoping support of male extension members which attach directly to the cylinder and crawler via a side bolster. Within the limits of expansion, the male extension members co-acting with clamps acting through the female tube members provide for both movement of the point of crawler support and expansion of the paving width of the tractor frame. Into this combination, extenders are added for attachment to the supported end of the male extension members interior of the female telescoping members. During frame width expansion, the male telescoping members are expanded to register their ends interior of the female telescoping members to attachment access ports in the female telescoping member. The extenders are inserted, supported, and registered at complimentary attachment apertures with attachment to the males telescoping members taking place. Once attachment has occurred, further extension of the male telescoping members occurs. A simple system of pinned cross-bracing reinforces the extended frame with relatively light bracing members. Provision is made for extender gathering to the male telescoping member interior of the box beams to facilitate ready extender connection.

    • A method and apparatus for spreading paving materials. A chassis forms a support structure for the spreader and includes a front side facing toward a paving direction, a rear side opposite the front side, a receiving side facing toward a haul road and a far side opposite the receiving side. A receiving conveyor belt extends across the haul road and runs to a central point beneath the chassis, the receiving conveyor belt receives paving materials from delivery trucks traveling along the haul road and transports the paving materials to the central point where the paving materials fall off the receiving conveyor belt and onto a swinging delivery conveyor belt. The delivery conveyor belt includes a first end located at the central point beneath the receiving conveyor belt and extends beyond the rear side of the chassis to a second end of the receiving conveyor belt. The delivery conveyor belt receives paving materials falling off the receiving conveyor belt and transports the paving materials to the second end of the conveyor belt where the paving materials are spread behind the spreader. A swiveling mechanism effectuates the rotation of the first end of the delivery conveyor belt so as to swing the second end of the delivery conveyor belt behind the spreader. A delivery conveyor belt support structure supports the delivery conveyor belt frame from the swiveling mechanism and the chassis.

    • A portable concrete plant capable of producing up to 240 to 300 cubic yards or more of concrete per hour is disclosed in which two hauling trailers, a mixer trailer and an aggregate trailer, both serve as the transport vehicles and as foundation for the completely erected plant. The aggregate trailer includes three bins used respectively for sand, fine aggregate and course aggregate. Weigh belts convey weighed and humidity measured amounts of sand and aggregate from discrete open top bins to a batch aggregate loading belt for batch loading of a compulsory mixer on the mixer trailer. The side of the aggregate trailer is provided with a bulkhead for an earthen or gravel ramp with large width bins enabling a single loader to supply the high volume of sand and aggregate required. The mixer trailer supports a twin shaft compulsory mixer on a foundation pad which is top loading for concrete constituents and bottom emptying to an elevating and concrete discharge point to awaiting trucks. Pivotally mounted to the mixer trailer from a horizontal transport disposition to a vertically erect operating position are a multi-compartment air loaded, gravity feed cement silo, and weigh hopper for batch weighing of concrete and discharge to the underlying compulsory mixer. Provision is made for the axles located at the rear of the trailer to steer so that precision joining of the plant components can easily occur.
