The backing comprises a polymeric bonding layer defining its rear surface. The sheet of coated abrasive material comprises a nonwoven sheet of longitudinally oriented fibers having anchor portions bonded in the polymeric bonding layer at spaced bonding locations, and arcuate portions projecting from the rear surface of the backing between the bonding locations to provide the loops.

摘要： A back-up pad for supporting an abrasive article having projecting hooking stems. The back-up pad includes a support member and an engaging means provided on a major surface of the support member for releasably engaging the hooking stems of the abrasive article. The engaging means includes a substrate having a first surface, a second surface, a plurality of loops projecting from the first surface, and an adhesive applied to the second surface. The plurality of loops comprise a continuous strand, the strand including a plurality of loop portions projecting through the substrate from the second side to the first side to thereby form the loops, and a plurality of connecting portions between the loop portions. The substrate is located between the loop portions and connection portions of the strand, and the adhesive adheres the connecting portions of the strand to the second surface of the substrate. Also disclosed is an engaging means for use with a back-up pad, and a method of stitching the engaging means.

摘要： A method for forming a structured polymeric film having a plurality of longitudinally spaced structured on both sides of the structured polymeric film is described. The method includes: providing a rotatable tool having an outer circumferential surface, the outer circumferential surface including a plurality of tool projections; providing a nip roll having a smooth conformable outer circumferential surface opposed to the outer circumferential surface of the tool; introducing a polymer layer into a nip between the tool and the nip roll; pressing the polymer layer between the tool and the nip roll to form web recesses into a first side of the polymer layer and web projections extending away from an opposing second side of the polymer layer, with the tool projections on the circumferential surface of the tool and form a structured web; and removing the structured web from the tool. Sample processing articles are also described.
