    • A Faraday cage enclosing an optical device extends between a metalized plate and an upper enclosure. The upper enclosure is vertically spaced from the metalized plate. The Faraday cage includes one or more ceramic wall portions that extend from the metalized plate to the upper enclosure and limit the passage of EMI through the ceramic wall portions. The ceramic wall portions include a plurality of laminated ceramic layers, each one of the laminated ceramic layers extending substantially parallel to the metalized plate, and a plurality of vias extending substantially perpendicular to the metalized plate through the laminated ceramic layers, each one of the plurality of vias extending substantially from the metalized plate to the upper enclosure. The plurality of vias are configured to form a pattern that limits the passage of EMI through the vias, wherein the metalized plate, the upper enclosure, and the ceramic wall portions define a Faraday cage that surrounds the optical device.

    • A continuous care treatment platform includes a first service junction at a head end and a second service junction at a foot end. The first service junction delivers physiological surfaces to a patient supported by medically related utilities available from either an onboard supply or an offboard supply through the input service junction. An umbilicus, which includes a bundle of lines for conveying the utilities, has a first head end that connects to any of a plurality of standardized offboard service junctions and a second end that connects to the second onboard service junction at the foot of the platform. The standardized offboard service junctions make available larger quantities of the medical utilities. Continuous care is maintained by switching between the onboard supplies and offboard supplies available through the umbilicus.

    • A mobile medical unit (10) has interior space divided into a service compartment (24), a treatment compartment (26), an entryway compartment (28), and a storage compartment (30). An interior door (52) controls passage of persons between the entryway compartment (28) and the treatment compartment (26), an exterior door (58) controls passage of persons between the entryway compartment (28) and space outside of the medical unit (10), and an opening (64) is formed between the entryway compartment (28) and the storage compartment (30) for retrieval and replenishment of supplies. The interior door (52) and the exterior door (58) form between them an air lock to help maintain an aseptic condition within the treatment compartment (26). However, the interior door (52) is oriented at an acute angle with respect to the exterior door (58) to provide an auxiliary exit for recumbent patients along a smooth curved passageway (94).
