    • A system for recommending insulin bolus quantities to an insulin user includes a display unit and memory unit coupled to a control circuit with a user blood glucose target stored in the memory unit. The control circuit is programmed to receive the user's current blood glucose value, to determine and display via the display unit a recommended correction insulin bolus quantity if the current blood glucose value exceeds the blood glucose target, to compute a difference value as the current blood glucose value less the blood glucose target, and to produce a modified blood glucose target as a sum of the blood glucose target and the difference value for a lock-out time period if the difference value is positive. Additional correction insulin bolus quantities may be recommended during the lock-out time period if the user's current blood glucose value exceeds the modified blood glucose target.

    • A method of computing an insulin bolus quantity when a measured glucose value in a current time interval exceeds a target glucose value for the current time interval and when a time duration of glucose lowering action of the bolus to be administered spans the current and a number of the next adjacent time intervals, may comprise determining a corresponding number of percentages of insulin action of the recommended bolus quantity that will each be used lowering the glucose level during a respective one of the number of time intervals, and computing the recommended bolus quantity as a function of the measured glucose value, the target blood glucose level for a last one of the number of next adjacent time intervals, the insulin sensitivities for the current and each of the number of next adjacent time intervals, and the corresponding number of percentages.

    • A system and method are provided for generating a plurality of basal rate models that together model delivery of a corresponding plurality of basal rates of a diabetes treatment drug to a patient over a period of time. Information may be collected from a plurality of patients that have a diabetic condition and to which the diabetes treatment drug has been delivered. The collected information may include a glycemic control indicator for each of the plurality of patients that is indicative of an efficacy of the diabetes treatment drug in treating the patient's diabetic condition. The collected information may be filtered based on the glycemic control indicators to produce a subset of information that includes information only for patients that exhibit acceptable glycemic control. The plurality of basal rate models may be generated based on the subset of the collected information, and may be stored in a memory unit.
