    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus responding to continuous paper where, in transferring to rough-surfaced paper whose surface has great ruggedness and transferring on the second face in paper in which wrinkles are generated by heat upon toner image fixing to the first face, the satisfactory transferring free from image defects is made possible.
      SOLUTION: The inside of a transfer unit housing 6 is stored with: a transferring assist roller 5; a corona transfer unit 3; and an AC discharger 4, and the transferring assist roller 5 is arranged at the upstream side of the corona transfer unit 3. The transferring assist roller 5 is obtained by covering a metal roll with an electrically conductive and thermally shrinkable tube and performing heating treatment. For preventing the electrostatic sticking of a bipolar toner to the transferring assist roller, an A.C. electric field is applied to the space between the transferring assist roller and a photosensitive drum face. Concretely, pulse voltage is applied to a core bar in the transferring assist roller. Upon printing, the transferring assist roller 5 presses a recording medium 7 against the photoconductor face 2 of the photosensitive drum 1. The transferring assist roller 5 rotates in accordance with the carriage of the recording medium 7, and also, secures the adhesion between the recording medium 7 and the photoconductor face 2.
