    • A connector assembly suitable for use with a leveraging system is disclosed. The assembly includes two connector components, each having an attachment component receiving portion and a pin-coupling portion. The pin-coupling portions cooperate, in an assembled connector assembly, to define a closed pin-receiving orifice passing through the connector assembly. The assembly can be quickly coupled to and from a fixed pin structure, thereby facilitating changing of an attachment component such as a knob hook. Additional features include a releasable securing device that secures the connector components into a connector assembly. Also, inclusion of a rounded transitional surface on each connector component permits use, and quick attachment, of the assembly in environments wherein space is otherwise unduly restricted around the pin to be coupled. A method for using the connector assembly is also disclosed.

    • An optical disk cartridge handling apparatus for storing, handling, reading and writing of optical disks contained in cartridges which store data for a host computer. The apparatus comprises an import/export element for loading and unloading cartridges into the apparatus. A cartridge store or library with vertical slots therein stores the cartridges. The leftmost slot initially receives the cartridges from the import/export element. A flipper mechanism is adapted to receive one of the cartridges from either the cartridge store or one of preferably two optical disk drives suitably mounted below the cartridge store. A picker mechanism is mounted on the flipper mechanaism and moves the cartridge into and out of the flipper mechanism. The flipper mechanism is adapted to invert or flip the cartridge. A traverse mechanism is also provided for moving the flipper mechanism along two axes of motion to move and/or pivot the flipper and picker mechanisms adjacent any of the slots of the cartridge store or the slots of either optical disc drive. Drive loader mechanisms may also be provided and are located in front of the optical disk drives for mechanically inserting the cartridge into either of the drives from the flipper mechanism. Optical sensors provide the apparatus with information as to the locations and orientations of the cartridges and the flipper, picker, traverse and drive loader mechanisms.

    • This is an improved blast joint for subterranean wells which is ideally suited for applications where corrosive compounds such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide are encountered. The blast joint comprises a plurality of temperature and corrosion resistant hard rings which are in a stacked end face-to-face array, coaxially carried on a length of tubing. The rings are resiliently compressed in the array by spring washers interspaced by flat washers and this assembly is retained by end collars distally carried on the tubing. The end collars which are employed in this invention have a collet type construction; each collar comprising a clamp ring slidably received over the end of the production tubing, having an internally threaded outer end and a tapered inside wall. A collet sleeve with a tapered outside wall is received in the clamp ring. The collar also includes an externally threaded bushing which is received in the threaded outer end of the clamp ring and serves as an axial stop for the collet sleeve as the clamp ring is tightened, compressing the collet sleeve about the outer surface of the tubing, firmly locking the assembly. All members of the collar are coated with a protective, corrosion resistant coating and the gripping surfaces of the collet sleeve are coated with a resin that is filled with angular granular material of a high hardness.

A drive loader mechanism is located in front of the optical disk drive for mechanically inserting the cartridge into the drive from the flipper mechanism. Optical sensors provide the apparatus with information as to the locations and orientations of the cartridges and the flipper, picker and drive loader mechanisms.
