    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a material with high barrier properties. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method for producing a material with high barrier properties to gas and liquid containing a thermoplastic matrix and a predetermined nano particle compound. The material is obtained by introducing the compound into a medium for polymerizing the matrix. The compound is obtained by a process including the following successive steps: (a) precipitating, in an acid medium, a compound based on zirconium phosphate and/or titanium phosphorate using, as a starting material, a mixed compound based on phosphoric acid and a zirconium compound and/or a titanium compound or titanium and zirconium (titanium and/or zirconium is in the oxidation state of IV valent); (b) crystallizing the compound; and (c) treating the crystallized compound in a liquid medium of pH3-9.
