    • In a method for measuring the speed of an electrical machine having a stator, a rotor and a winding, in particular of an electronically commutated motor, a speed-measurement signal ω is sampled, in that a measured speed value ω(k) for the rotor is determined for each of a series of sampling instants. Moreover, a moment of inertia value for the mass moment of inertia of the rotor is determined. In addition, a current signal I is sampled, in that a current value I(k) for the electrical current in the winding is determined for each of the sampling instants. An estimated value ωs(k) for each of the measured speed values ω(k) is determined from a measured speed value ωk(k−1) assigned to an earlier sampling instant, from the current signal I and from the moment of inertia value. A tolerance band containing the estimated value ωs(k) is assigned to this estimated value ωs(k). If the measured speed value ω(k) lies outside of the tolerance band, the measured speed value ω(k) is replaced by a speed value ωk(k) that is within the tolerance band.

    • In a method for setting the rotary angle position of the camshaft of a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine relative to the crankshaft, the crankshaft is connected to the camshaft by means of a triple-shaft gear mechanism. This triple-shaft gear mechanism has a drive shaft which is fixed to the crankshaft, an output shaft which is fixed to the camshaft, and an adjusting shaft which is driven by an electric motor. A crankshaft sensor signal is detected which changes its state when the rotary angle of the crankshaft changes. Furthermore, an adjusting shaft sensor signal is detected which changes its state when the rotary position of the adjusting shaft changes. A phase angle signal is updated, starting from a reference rotary angle value, when the state of the crankshaft sensor signal and/or of the adjusting shaft sensor signal changes, and is adjusted to a provided setpoint phase angle signal. The ignition of the internal combustion engine is then switched off and/or the rotational speed of the crankshaft is lowered to below a prespecified minimum rotational speed value. While the crankshaft and/or the camshaft are/is still rotating, the electric motor is supplied with power in such a way that the camshaft rotates in the direction of a prespecified reference position relative to the crankshaft. When the internal combustion engine is next started, the camshaft and crankshaft are positioned in accordance with the reference position and this is detected with the aid of a sensor. The phase angle signal is set to a reference value and then adjusted to the setpoint phase angle signal.

    • A method for adjusting the rotational angle position of the camshaft (3) of a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine relative to the crankshaft (5) is provided. The crankshaft (5) is drivingly connected to the camshaft (3) via an adjusting drive (1), which is embodied as a triple-shaft gear mechanism, having a crankshaft-fixed drive shaft, a camshaft-fixed output shaft, and an adjustment shaft drivingly connected to an electric motor (4). A stop element is connected to the drive shaft and a counter-stop element is connected to the camshaft (3). The crankshaft rotational angle measuring signal and a position signal for the rotational angle of the adjusting shaft are detected during the starting step of the internal combustion engine. A phase angle signal for the position of the rotational angle of the camshaft (3), based on the initial position, in relation to the camshaft (3) is determined with the aid of the angle measuring signal, the position measuring signal and a gear variable of the triple shaft gear. After immobilization of the crankshaft (5) and the camshaft (3) in a reference position in relation to each other and after detection of the reference position, the phase angle in relation to the reference position is measured and is controlled to a target value signal.
