    • Gastrostomy feeding ports are disclosed which remain positively sealed after repeated and extensive use. In one embodiment, a valve housing defines an inner passageway to provide fluid communication into a long term indwelling catheter and includes a rigid compression collar portion which defines a valve member receiving cavity within the inner passageway. The resilient valve member has an outer peripheral edge which generally conforms in shape to the valve member receiving cavity but is larger in dimension than the cavity when uncompressed. The resilient valve member also includes an outer wall portion which extends away from the outer peripheral edge of the diaphragm portion and which generally conforms in shape to the cavity. The resilient valve member is compressively fitted within the receiving cavity by the advancing of the outer wall portion into said cavity to thereby cause the outer peripheral edge to be compressed in dimension to fit within the cavity, with the compression collar pressing inwardly against the outer peripheral edge of the diaphragm portion to apply laterally compressive forces which bias the slit toward a normally closed position. Additional embodiments are disclosed which provide for the direct conversion of an implanted PEG tube into a low profile feeding port, and which further provide for the direct secure connection to an enteral feeding tube adapter.

    • Gastrostomy ports are disclosed for reliably providing enteral feeding to a patient over long periods of time. Gastrostomy ports shown herein provide one-way valves which include a resilient valve member which is compressively fitted within a receiving cavity defined by a rigid compression collar. The valve member has a diaphragm portion defining a slit. The compression collar presses inwardly against the outer peripheral edge of the diaphragm portion to apply laterally compressive forces which bias the slit toward a normally closed position. Gastrostomy ports are further shown for accessing the interior of a body cavity or organ which are self retaining and resist inadvertent pull-out but can be atraumatically implanted and removed. The devices include a retaining element which is resiliently deformable between a normally enlarged state for retention and a collapsed state for insertion and removal through a stoma and are provided with means for controllably biasing the element toward a longitudinal axis for collapsing the element. Still additional embodiments are disclosed which provide for the direct conversion of an implanted PEG tube into a low profile feeding port, and which further provide for the direct secure connection to an enteral feeding tube adapter.

    • The present disclosure provide catheter anchoring devices including anchoring devices that can be used to secure percutaneous catheters to a patient. In some embodiments, a catheter anchoring device comprises a locking tab having a front surface including a first mechanical engagement material and a back surface to be adhesively secured to a catheter by wrapping the back surface around a catheter surface. The catheter anchoring device further comprises a base portion comprising a base material layer including a bottom surface for adhesive application to the skin of a patient and a top surface including a second mechanical engagement material for engagement with the first mechanical engagement material of the locking tab; and a flexible closure extending from the base material layer and including a third mechanical engagement material for engagement with the top surface of the base material layer and a through-hole sized to allow passage of a tab protrusion.

    • A tube holder assembly is provided for securing a medical tube such as an endotracheal tube to a patient. In one illustrative embodiment, the holder assembly comprises a support strap for placement around the patient's head or neck region, a bracket for holding the endotracheal tube in position relative to the patient's mouth, and a face anchoring portion for securing the support strap to the patient's face region. The support strap includes a front surface and an opposed, back surface. The bracket may be attached to the front surface of the support strap. The bracket may include an upper bar and an arm extending from the upper bar. The face anchoring device may comprise a first surface configured to adhere to the patient's face region, and a second, opposed surface having a strap-engaging portion configured to mechanically engage the back surface of the support strap. The support strap may be configured to be repeatedly releasable and adjustable to the face anchoring device.

    • A gastrostomy feeding port includes a deformable, conical tip portion having at least one side aperture therethrough, a tube portion which extends rearwardly from the tip portion, a fitting portion on the rear end of the tube portion, a removable valve portion in the fitting portion and a flange portion which extends outwardly from the fitting portion. The feeding port is adapted to be installed in a patient so that the tube portion extends through a preestablished stoma in the patient's stomach with the tip portion located in the patient's stomach and the fitting portion and the flange portion engaging the skin of the patient adjacent the stoma. Since the valve portion is removable received in the fitting portion, it can be repaired or replaced if needed without replacing the entire feeding port.

    • A gastrostomy-jejunal feeding tube comprises a gastrostomy tube having an enlarged resiliently, collapsible retainer element on the distal end thereof and a jejunal feeding tube which is removably received in the gastrostomy tube in a manner which allows fluids to pass through the gastrostomy tube despite the presence of the jejunal feeding tube therein. The gastrostomy-jejunal feeding tube is adapted to be installed in a patient so that the gastrostomy tube extends through the stomach wall, fascia and skin for draining fluids from the stomach and so that the jejunal feeding tube extends into the jejunum area of the intestines for feeding and medicating the patient. Since the jejunal feeding tube is removable from the gastrostomy tube it can be replaced without surgery, and since the retainer element is resiliently collapsible, it can be pulled outwardly through the stomach wall to allow the gastrostomy tube to be removed from the patient without surgery.

    • An inhalation device which induces respiratory exercise and which is inexpensive, safe and easy to handle and operate. The device includes a flow measurement container in which is housed a flow rate indicator, such as a light-weight article or ball, that normally rests at the bottom of the container. Extending through the top wall are opposed ports. A restricted port connects the chamber to atmosphere and a large opposing port to a passageway through which a person inhales. With the inhalation device of the invention, the user, nurse, or therapist can readily measure the amount inspired. A predetermined amount of inhalation for a given time is required to raise the indicator to the top of the container and predetermined additional amounts of inhalation for a given additional times are required to maintain the article at the top thereof.
